Why Not - Plano needs some love

I figured I'd take the top ten Plano teams and ask for a vote on how they will finish out. These are all teams that have at least 3 wins; though not everything is posted I know.

Seems like by the way the competition in the standings is spread out there should have been three divisions.

That was the discussion about PPL before the season started (and what should have been the case last year). In PPL 1 about half the games are reasonably matched, the other half is not really fun for either team most of the time. That said, an injury or Spring Break can change the standings pretty fast if you get 4 games (half a season) over that one week...

Yeah. If this was youth hockey, the league would split the bracket in half mid season to level set; so the top 10 would play each other and then the bottom ten would do likewise. One could have only hoped but that would have made the spring season quite interesting.

OK, with the stats just published, here are the top 10 Division teams. Still some shifting going on within the top 10 as well as some upward shifting of the next tier. Who knows where all these will end up by next spring. (Shark music playing)

Looks like the same group from QT for the most part. The top ones from PPL last year that aren't in LH, and the LH teams that failed to requalify (with a few exceptions of course).

They do get to play everyone. Spring season teams play the reminder of the division.

You are so right Scrmom, and that is why it isn't over, things can change (and most likely will) when everyone has finished playing each other. The bad is that you only play each opponent once during the season so you never get to see if you have improved over the teams you played. The good news is that you have a chance of improvement before you play teams you have yet to play.

Anyone on here know the Avalanche vs. TFC score from last night?

That's what we are hoping for our team. Some time to recoup and improve between fall and spring. This fall season has been a train wreck. Our poor goalie has been injured since Game 2 so we've had a field player step up and fill in. I give her tons of props for doing so too, not many would do that and she's been holding her own too. Just changes the whole dynamic though.
I really don't like only playing each team once either but it is what it is with PPL.

Newbie that I am, I did assume that, but my point was that mentioning the points at this point was pointless, get the point? ie, Fever - 3 Lonestars - 1 last night..one heckuva fun game to watch though..at least for me who doesn't know jack about soccer.

For some of the teams, the spring season will be an uphill climb. I still advocate the division should be split in half, giving ten teams to a division so teams can have two chances to best the competition for total points. Looking at the current standings and the spring schedule I think there is enough data to speculate as to which teams will continue to the top. Anyone care to offer predictions?

Agree with splitting the division.

This was an argument made last year when they went from three divisions to two. Some thought it was because without the change some of the top plano teams that failed to qualify in LH would not keep their bye going back to PPL due to the loss of too many original rostered players. At the time, some teams who should have had a bye weren't given one and teams that shouldn't have had a bye got one. That was resolved by throwing Divisions 1 and 2 together and giving all returning teams a bye into PPL. As a process analyst, I tried to map the whole thing and finally gave up!

My bet is on Sporting. It looks like they have played all but 3 of the top 10 teams and are still in striking distance. I also think TFC has also had a tough schedule and will move up to 6th or 7th.

It seems like there is no support for the 2 divisions or the delayed score reporting. Will Plano continue to ignore their customers? How is life in Arlington FWFC?

No disrespect to the bottom teams but this 19 team division doesn't help anyone. How can teams on either end of the division get better? PPL should listen before teams start looking elsewhere, especially the Tarrant county teams.

Barring an unfortunate injury, the current Top 6 teams should finish that way in no particular order in the Spring although I'm hoping for Spring "FEVER". Lol

In no particular order, I do think you'll see DTNs FW, Sporting FC, Fever United, Avalanche, and maybe a stretch but AFC Black in the top five at the end of the spring season. Which would be my picks to place or win brackets in next year's LHGCL QT, as far as PPL is concerned.

Just a reminder there will be more than 4 spots open for LHGCL QT next year due to the relegation of teams taking up the ECNL team spots.

You are right scrmom. Just because a team isn't in the forefront right now in PPL doesn't mean that they couldn't make it in the QTs at LH. Next year is going to be very interesting as far as movement. I certainly believe there will be more contraction as more teams hit the skids and others pick up players. What you see this year can most definitely change by the QTs. This year saw some very good teams fall apart and others lose talent or suffer injuries during the first part of the season. There are game changers all around and it will be interesting to see how everything shakes out. Bottom line is who will have the heart and talent to bust it out and who won't. There are a number of teams still trying to add to their rosters this season, so it will be any one's guess as to how everything will turn out.

From what I understand, there will be no relegation from LH D3, only promotion...

5 from D1 go ECNL, then the next 5 from D2 go up to D1, and the next 5 from D3 go up to D2, and the rest of D3 will be filled in by a QT...Not CERTAIN that is right, but that was the word here earlier-and since it is on the Internet, I trust it!

You are absolutely correct....my mind was thinking promotion but my fingers typed relegation.

I think AFC Black is definitely in the hunt. Haven't seen WF Express in a year, but based on years past, they seem to improve as the season goes on.
