SDL schedule says they play twice.
And Rase meets up with Dalglish next weekend and Solar "stackthebox" Kenny not too soon after.

Hmmm, did Solar Kenn "stackthebox" against Dalglish in their recent win? I'd say 5 goals and a ton of possesion in their attacking third says different...You are either, ill-informed, havent watched them play recently, or have watched them and just lack the understanding of basic tactics...
I luv this guys spirit. Yes it was a great win for Solar Kenn and simply put Dalglish lost. Let's not over "credit" the Solar teams performance. By no means a disrespect to Solar Kenn players, they played hard and new additions to team will pay off..
The two give me goals were flat out mishaps by the Dalglish defense. It happens and its part of the game.. BTW, the score was 4-3. I don't recall Solar scoring a 5th.

Yea, agree, I guess. just getting under Bubsy's skin cause he defended "that 1 game" up and down. Anyways, moving on, that new forward on SK has some game, fun watching her. Not sure on the losses.

Never intended to over credit anything and as a matter of fact, I stated that Dalglish is a great team as well.
How about replying to the poster's statement that started this whole route to accuracy? The generalization of calling the Kenn squad a stackthebox team is laughable and deserves to be responded to.
You started off great until the final slight jab you put in with the two give me goals remark. There is a reason that created those goals and confusion in the Dalglish defense.
It was a great game between two excellent sides, that could've gone either way or drawn.

Laughable..... I have commented about that match in the past, but nothing over the top as you suggest..
That is just your cover for failing miserably about calling Kenn's squad a stack the box team, and realizing your own error as it was explained to you by myself, and then Go 99, who also is soccer saavy, gave a factual representation that differed from you. If you watched the Dalglish match, and were knowledgable in the sport, you would have never made that generalization

bwgophers wrote:seamusdog wrote:Sorry, I suppose I should explain. I am a professor by trade and can often get "overly analytical." The fact that this involved my daughter's team piqued my interest and got me to look behind the numbers. I'm not at all upset. I'm just being that sometimes annoying professor guy, wanting folks to explain and justify their work rather than sitting back and accepting that it's just one ranking of 9 year old girls.
Please don't take it as an attack. Just chalk it up to intellectual curiosity.
No offense at all, I'm pretty sure that I've had far more annoying professors and customers over the years (although you are quickly moving up the list ).
At the risk of causing severe nausea to the majority of the '04 forum readers, I am preparing a little "peek behind the curtain" that will explain the movement from last week to this week of Fever and the 5 teams that jumped them.
Not saying that you'll like it, but it will explain the numbers.
Gonna take me a little bit to get it into a logical format and post it, but it's on its way...
O.K. Professor Seamus, here you go...
First, let me say thank you. By pushing me to go back and check things, I actually found 2 mistakes, one minor (affecting Fever), and one not so minor (affecting Tx. Spirit North Red and DT North Rosales I).
The minor mistake was a transcription error in Fever's point total this week. I typed 52.26 into the final table, instead of the correct 52.62. Doesn't change Fever's rankings, but now gives the correct rounded point total and point delta from the 2/26 rankings.
The not so minor mistake was actually in the 2/26 rankings. Again, a transcription error where I accidentally entered DTN's point total for Tx. Spirit North Red and vice versa. So DTN should have been #10 and TSNR should have been #12 last week. This week rankings were correct for these teams, but the change in rank and change in point total was incorrect.
I have corrected both of these and will update in the original post in this thread.
Now for the details behind the ranking change from 2/26 - 3/5 as it pertains to Fever and the 5 teams that jumped them this week.
The primary driver for the ranking change is the difference between the "old" games that were dropped from the history and the new results that were added, and specifically, the impact those changes had on each team's Weighted Wins total.
The top table below, shows a summary of the added and dropped results, the resulting change in Weighted Win (WW) value, and the total net change in WW for each team. The (T#) after each opponent is the ranking tier that each opponent is assigned to.
Fever dropped wins against 2 Tier 2 opponents, while adding a draw against another Tier 2 opponent. When compared to the other 5 teams, the net change in WW between 2/26 and 3/5 was far worse for Fever.
The second set of tables shows the actual ranking points calculated in each of the 4 primary ranking categories and the total ranking points (sum of 4 categories), for all 6 teams in question, for both the weeks of 2/26 and 3/5. Finally, the point delta from 2/26 to 3/5 for each ranking category.
This is the same exact formula and methodology I have been using for FBR for the past 2 years.
Again, if FBR allowed for a sliding weight scale, the contribution of the Tx. Spirit Clark and Sting Scarfone W's to Fever's overall ranking would have been much less during the week of 2/26. This would have meant that under such a system, Fever likely would have already been ranked below most, if not all, of the other 5 teams going INTO this past weekend. However, the week-week movement between the teams would have more closely mirrored the relative strength of the newly added results ONLY.
If you want a full description of the formula, ranking tier weights, etc., you can find it here... http://www.ntxsoccer.net/rankings.aspx
MoV = Margin of Victory
MWW = Most Weighted Wins
WW/G = Total Weighted Wins/Games Played (also called Average Weighted Wins or AWW)
SoS = Strength of Schedule

So, now I will have to explain from the very begining, Mr. ignorant one. I referenced stackthebox in my first post in this chain when talking about a few Rase games they have coming up, one of the being against Solar K, in an effort to get a chuckle based on this previous rivalry and threads. But you immediately went all defensive on me referencing the latest and greatest SK game against Dalglish. Whooaa, easy there tiger. And yes, I did watch the match, and am very knowledgeable in soccer, former academy coach. And yes, SK played well in that match, but again, my original reference was torwards a specific rivalry against Rase.

If you're looking to throw a fast ball at the batter, expect a beam line back at you.. In other words, I'm going to defend an insult... It's cool, you say you won, but that slight jab this particular person does is not acceptable...

Referenced it to a specific rivalry and former tournament game, AND agreed SK played well recently. You are just relentless in defending Solar at every possible opportunity. Must be getting paid out of those high fees.

Hey, just to clarify, where are the dividers between tiers? I would have thought Dalglish was a tier 1 team, not a tier 2 team.
