Texans didn't get a medal because they cheated.
Sting didn't get a medal because they lost the game.
Everybody loses - and the ones hurt most of all are the innocent 8/9 year old girls.
Y'all are arguing about semantics, and say the win should be awarded here or there for different reasons...
I say - freeze all rosters in academy. Make it 4 seasons (Spr/Sum/Fall/Wint), with movement allowed between the seasons only - and no guest playing...period. Otherwise, this will happen again (or it will happen, but nobody will be caught), and more little girls get "hurt".
I also say throw the book at the Texans in this situation, because although everybody does it, they actually got caught "bending" the rules (or outright breaking them on purpose). Fair play rules are in effect to protect the integrity of the game, and to teach sportsmanship to little kids. When you intentionally break the rules to get an advantage, or even bring in guest players with the sole purpose to get a better result (not a tryout), you are teaching little girls that cheating or "bending the rules" is OK, as long as you get that immediate gratification....and then we wonder why the younger generation(s) are so screwed up and have a sense of entitlement...

It seems to me that North Texas has lost institutional control over its Jr's academy program. The willingness to win at all cost out weighs the penalty associated with getting caught.

Actually, aside from your snark, you are pretty much right. You will never see a post from this poster complaining about "guess" players at the Academy age. If you want the RASE girls to play everyweekend, bring them to as many teams as will have them. Same goes for any other little superstars that want to "guess" play. Who cares? Shouldn't this be about development and not who wins? Isn't that what everyone is always saying? Look at how they play, not the score? The kids across from the ball should not matter one bit as long as they are the same age you expet to be playing. This American attitude towards trying so hard to win that we will take a win by default is a little silly.
So if you are happy with your kid winning every meaninless tournament and game in the metroplex and making sure the record books mark down your glorious wins, more power to ya. I will just watch the kids play and see how they are coming along.
Oh the snark was intentional. I really could care less. Deleone hasn't been significant since TBG. but dd doesn't play for him so doesn't matter. I was just pointing out the contradiction to the rest of whats posted in the 04's. To the Sting team, if you can't beat Deleone and anybody that would actually play for him then time to get back to work.

I would say blame lies on the coach even though the fault could be solely on the manager. I doubt anyone will post anything on here, but between the two of them, they know who did what. If it comes to a hearing, the coach is the one that can be blamed and the punishment for using unrostered players can be severe.

"start bringing" would indicate a future tense, the correct tense be tense is "continue bringing".

Re: Tournaments this weekend - May 10-12th, 2013
I was in the tournament office at Lake Park when this happened turning in a game report for an '03 game...but I didn't know it was ALL of this. A lady walked in the office and it must have been the Texans manager because she was near tears. I stayed in the front area b/c I was nosey. She asked if he would unbench her players, she had all of their forms. She told the guy in the office that she had to rush off to get her other kids or something and handed the coach the game report with the wrong roster. The problem is that it was stamped by GLASA. I think she said she had gone back to the registration tent the first night with the new roster and got it stamped and neglected to throw away the old stamped game reports. The guy in the office said he couldn't do anything about it because a stamped game report was turned in and the game had already started. She left and I took my kids to the concession stand. Walking to the car, I saw her try to show the Sting coach and parents on the other team the papers she had in her binder. I say try bc I never saw anyone look at them. I had no idea it got this bad. I told my wife about it and we just laughed it off saying we were glad it wasn't us having to do something like that with the other coach and the other parents.
I don't know anything about this DT coach, but as a fellow manager I truly felt bad for her. It was obvious she felt terrible and now hearing about the kids not getting trophies I'm sure she feels even worse. I didn't even have a login for this site before now, but I told my wife I needed to type something as it seemed this lady was getting thrown under the bus by a few posters calling her unethical.
Also, regarding comments about jersey #s....we didn't even have guest players but we have 2 #10s and at one point we had 3 #23s. Get used to it until your kid goes Select....and boohoo if your kid can't tell the difference b/t 2 players with the same jersey #. Sounds like a training issue...or player maturity issue. None of the tournament documents required unique jersey #s for each player. One tournament we had a guest player that wore my daughters spare (old) uniform.
Sounds like the benched players didn't get to play the 2nd half or the OT periods, so they weren't on the field when DT won. Why did the coach accept the benching decision initially and not call for DQ or something if she felt that strongly? And ok...she called the coach a cheater and not the girls, but you know girls from both sides heard her yelling and name calling. I don't get how that's ok, regardless if he's a cheater or not.
Anyway, good luck to the poor guy that has to make the call on this one.

She hadn't lost yet. To me, who has zero involvement in this situation, as soon as she agreed to play the 2nd half she lost the ability to cry about the outcome.

It's because she thought she was going to win & when it didn't go her way all HELL broke loose.

Any there is the addition to the story that brings it in a little more context. So no, it sounds like no one was trying to cheat, it was a mistake and they tried to correct it. At the end of the day it really is a meaningless tournament and the parents should relax. Just play who shows up, if you win fine, collect your trophy, if you don't, go train and gett better. Don't go nuts over a clerical error.

If that isn't someone's alt ID making up the objective spectator post I don't know what is...
I just created an account, was just browsing a thread I had no direct reason to, and decided to post a novel...yeah, sure!

Sounds like a Texan trying to get out from under the bus!

Not sure who was getting trashed, but we don't all have your insight. Second post and you are already cussing. I see there is not much class on the sidelines.

This seems to have been a clerical error. Said girls have been practicing with team for the last 4 weeks. The Texans being a large organization, have multiple 04 teams with multiple girls playing multiple teams. This contributing to the part I am not sure what happened. If the names were wrong, numbers wrong, or what. But apparently the roster was wrong. And Carey officials made 4 girls sit. Now we started the tournament with 13 girls. In semi finals, one girl pulled a muscle in her thigh. She was reluctantly sitting in championship game. When they benched the 4 girls. That brave girl donned a goalie shirt and shut out the 05 team in second half. One of the gutsiest things I have seen in a long time. Academy girls can float at anytime to any team. My daughter wants to play 8 days a week. Loves to compete. I love to oblige. Having played way too many years of competitive sports in many arenas and on all levels, I love sharing my knowledge and experience with her. Many teaching moments in the events that unfolded. Great soccer was played on the field. Ugly coaching from the Garrett coach on sting side (my opinion). She seems to be very competitive. Win at all costs. If you cannot do it on the field, try every means. Very much a bad example and actually quite comical watching her stomp her feet and scream. It ran the gamut. From illegal players, players too old, shouldn't have been a direct kick. Her strategy was very clear. First try to win on technicality, stack as many girls as she could and try to survive to pk's. Do not know coach Freddie intimately, but for him to not lose his cool to the stuff spewing from that lady is commendable. The girls played hard and deserved a medal. In my opinion, was not cheating, but if rules were broken, it was not done maliciously, I would chalk it up to new team trying to manifest. And if it results in dq, so be it, but we all know who won, with 5 shut outs. All this being said, I try to find the good in everything, and I would like to thank Garrett for showing my daughter how not to lose. When you lose, do not try to blame refs, weather, field conditions, other team of cheating, etc. you take your lumps and take note of areas that need to be worked on. You tell the other team "good game", shake their hand, then want to go practice immediately!
