2014 NORTH TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL RANKINGS AS OF 1-29

Honorable mention: 4A-11 Birdville (12-0-1), 4A-11 Argyle (11-2-2), 5A-5 Lewisville (4-0-4), SPC Greenhill (6-0-2), 4A-21 Wylie (6-0-4), 5A-4 Haltom City (6-2-0), SPC Hockaday (5-1-1)

Looking over your ranking a couple of things stick out. While all the teams have good numbers the 4A and 5A teams rarely play each other and when the ones on your list lock horns the 4A always loses. The Tapps schools however have fared better vs. 5A with the BL victory over Marcus being an example.

Comparing head to head competition regardless of district or class reveals that teams 6, 8, 9,10,11,12, either didn’t play another team on the list or they lost when they did. Frisco did have an impressive win vs. Austin Westlake & HP vs. RR Westwood. None of the other 4A schools have wins vs. any significant 5A school. Number 16 Byron Nelson however has two impressive losses vs. Plano West & SLC. Until there is evidence to defend their inclusion I don’t see how 7,8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 belong on the list certainly not in those positions.

In the end you will be right about many of those 4A schools.  I ranked them this way because of their current record, number of ECNL players and last years performance.  I know how many ECNL players attend the above mentioned schools (but some don't play).  These athletes compete against my daughters club team all the time and have for years.  They all either go to 5A, 4A or private schools.  I know how they battle each other on the field.  5A is not a better division than 4A simply because the schools are larger and draw from a larger area.  That idea may work in football and basketball but not in women's soccer.  The women's high school soccer teams in North Texas regardless of how big they are will most likely be dominated by the teams who have the most ECNL Club players and Lake Highlands Club players.  They will also most likely possess coaches who also either coach club teams in ECNL, Lake Highlands and/or boys club teams and have a lot of years of experience doing it.

Bishop Lynch handled Liberty Christian 4-0 last week to run its record to 15-0. Monday night, junior Natalie McDonogh verbally committed to Missouri, giving Bishop Lynch its sixth NCAA Division I commit in the team's starting lineup with more to come.
5 Southlake Carroll (Southlake, Texas) 6-0-1 6
Southlake Carroll got two matches in at the rain-interrupted Lady Governor's Cup, beating Round Rock Westwood 3-1 and Austin Vandergrift 5-0.
7 Kingwood (Humble, Texas) 6-0-1 10
Kingwood rolled to wins over Klein Oak and Westfield by a combined 11-0 margin. No player scored more than once in either contest.
12 Coppell (Coppell, Texas) 6-0-2 14
Coppell defeated Boerne Champion 4-0 and Oak Ridge 2-0 in a rain-interrupted Lady Governor's Cup over the weekend.
