ESD (Episcopal Dallas) comfortably won the SPC Division 1 Championship last weekend and did it starting ONE senior.

Did they play or beat any of the on the list ranked above them?

ESD beat 4A schools, Forney and Austin Lake Travis and tied Cedar Park a team that beat Highland Park 2-0

Did ESD play HP?

HP Beat ESD 3-0 on Jan 11th in HP Tournament.

That was ESD's 3rd FULL game in 22 hours....it was H.P.'s 3rd full game in 42 hours...the extra 20 hours rest made the difference. H.P. set up their own tournament that way as they knew ESD would be a testing game otherwise.

ESD has 6 returning ECNL players plus 7 D1 players for next season. 10 of the starting 11 return.

Sounds like they may finally be ready to step up to the NEPS Tournament next year and challenge themselves to see what they are made of.  

Would be a great opportunity for some state and national recognition.

As far as I know they have not been invited. Hockaday, who ESD beat in the SPC semi-final is invited. The H.P. Tournament is played the same weekend.

If so, can probably dial 1-800-JATO$$$ to get an invite and arrange a schedule to earn as much state and national recognition as you want.

I wasn't there, but saw the schedule/scores. HP played a total of 4 games in 48 hours. (1st game 4pm Thursday, last game 4 pm Saturday) ESD was their 3rd game. Given the schedule of games from Thursday night to Saturday night, I'm betting not all teams can play a game thursday night, and not all may want to take off the extra school for that game. I have no idea how the scheduling works, but normally in a host tournament, the host team plays one of the early games because it is easier on them to make the early game over anyone else. I think they only had one or two games Thursday night, so not all teams played then.

Are you positive that ESD didn't ask to NOT play a Thursday game to avoid missing some school that day? I highly doubt the people setting up the tournament were trying to avoid being tested by ESD. The goal of the tournaments and pre-season are to get tested because league play is not always competitive.

The short rest might be a valid excuse to a degree, but the whole 'HP rigged it' doesn't seem justified to me. It's the same story in football, but now that they are getting moved up to 6a, all of the 'HP pays off the UIL to stay in 4A' (now 5A) people are silent. If ESD wants to, could they join the UIL just like Jesuit did in football? I have no doubt they belong in the conversation of very good, sold local teams and would fit nicely into the UIL playoff tournament. I love Wichita State in basketball, but it is hard to tell what they are until they play tougher teams. Thankfully, they will be in the tournament and we will be able to see.

The other 4 teams in the tournament all played a game Thursday. ESD did not request to not play Thursday but with 5 teams in it someone had to. ESD played their four games in 26 hours. H.P. their 4 in 48 hours. I understand that ESD will accept an invitation to play next year provided they receive a more equitable schedule or play Highland Park first. I believe H.P. has agreed to this.

Yes, that many games that quick is tough.   I guess one team had to do it based on having 5 teams.  Glad it won't be your team next year and glad they both worked it out.

He does seem to be steering clear of those moron Solar coaches in the other thread, though.

I'm not sure how many really bought the whole "I don't have a kid at ESD, and I don't have a kid that plays for Solar, I'm just involved in every single detail on what they're both doing through friends" story.
