96 D1 Final Results and Relegation

Congrats to D'Feeters. Please give us an update on the girl that left the game in a neck brace. From what I understand, it was a nasty game with zero officiating. Revolution seems to have a history of leaving games with record breaking cards and fouls.

Looks like Mustangs get to stay in D1 and Revolution and Spirit will drop down. Congrats to Mustangs.

So, is Sting Royal 97 the best team in the 96 division? (Just kidding - although it was fun reading the banter last week, including how one poster would be embarrassed if his dd's 95 team lost to a 96 team, but apparently forgot his 95 team has a certain impact 96 player. How embarrassing - not enough 95s to field a winning 95 team so they had to go get a 96 to do the heavy lifting. )

So what are the rules,, looks like Mustangs and Revolution have to go to playoff game since they are even with head to head. Is that the only tie breaker used in this case per the rules,,,
Anyone know for sure,,,,

I believe fewest goals against decides if they tied head to head. Need confirmation from one of the rule gurus though.

This was discussed last night, decided that Mustangs stays based on tie breaker. I think the other tie breakers were most wins and goal differential. Someone else may know for certain.

Seems all of yesterday's game results are posted, except for ours. Hmmm.... what's up with that?

Only section of the LH Rules that actually mentions Bye into D1 and relegation to D2 is Section G 6 a 1, listed in red below...

4. End of Season Tie Breakers: If two (2) or more teams are tied in the number of points, the tie will be broken as follows (except as stated in 6 below):

a. Winner of head-to-head competition.

b. Team with most number of wins.

c. Fewest goals allowed in season games.

d. Most goals scored in season games.

e. Goal differential (goals scored all season minus goals allowed all season.

Team with highest differential wins higher position in standings.

Maximum of 3 goals for or against allowed per game).

f. Best record against common opponents.

g. The team with the fewest yellow and/or red cards will finish in the higher position. NOTE: Only points accumulated in LHGCL play (regular season) will be used for this calculation.

h. Elimination game(s) if time permits. Opponents determined by random draw if more than two teams are tied for one position.

i. Coin toss.

j. In the event a game or games have been forfeited, if any other of the tied teams played the opponent that forfeited to the other tied team(s), then all the games against that opponent will be omitted before calculating the points and/or standings.

5. Grand Champion (and Division Champion) Tie Breakers: If two teams are tied for Grand Champion Points or Division Champion Points, the tie breaker rules above will be used using all LHGCL regular season games for the entire soccer year in the calculation (except as stated in 6 below).

6. Ties Between Teams to Determine a Bye:

For all ages, points earned in head-to-head play over the entire soccer year will apply. Playoff games will be played between any teams who cannot be eliminated in the head-to-head tiebreaker. The number of games and nature of the playoff will be determined by the LHGCL board. Playoff games must have a winner, i.e., if the game ends in a tie, two 10 minute overtimes will be played, then if still tied, FIFA kicks from the penalty mark will be taken to determine the winner.

a. Teams Tied in Grand Champion Points in Division I:

(1) If two teams are tied in points to determine who shall receive a Bye(s) into Division I and who will be relegated to Division II, only head-to-head competition will be used to break the tie. If the two teams are tied in head-to-head competition, a playoff game will be played between the two teams to determine who will receive the Bye into Division I.

(2) If three or more teams are tied for one or more Bye positions for Division I and therefore who will be relegated to Division II, the points earned in head-to-head games between all teams involved in the tie will be used to eliminate one or more teams from the tie. If teams are still tied after the head-to-head tiebreaker is applied, playoff game(s) will be played to break the ties.

Since there isnt a tie for grand champion all other ties are decided by head to head and then it goes to goals against. So mustangs stay in D1.

I am sure all of the D1 teams are very happy as that particular revolution team is going to hurt someone very badly. I would still like an update on the Feet girl in the neck brace. I understand it was a basic clothes line move that took her out.

I hope that all teams can play nice and injuries are minimal. Although I haven't seen Rev in a while, their reputation proceeds them. Mustangs should petition LHGCL to assign the hot tempered ref who ejects parents regularly. At least he isn't afraid to make a call and try to control the game (unlike some others who let it get way ugly).

I believe it refers to a tie for first when considering a playoff.

Now that i have read the rules a couple of times maybe there does have to be a playoff between mustangs and revolutuon. Geez. That is nuts. Mustang parents, you better up your health insurance.

Yes they do. The scores just havent been posted for the SR vs Spirit game.

Solar Red will move to 4th, FC 5th and Solar 6th.

Girl was fine it was suspected she had a concussion and a whiplash. After a CT scan it showed everything was ok and she has whiplash

In addition to 96 Gurus thoughts, the board guidelines makes specific references to the penalties for use of the 'F-word' by anyone. Should you not be able to understand the language before you can report and/or assess a fine or violation against someone for that violation? The most important point is that there 13/14 yr old should be able to ask a question about what they did wrong and get an explanation in English.

I guess there would have been a penalty if there was a spanish "C-word" instead of an english "F-word"?

Board will decide on how many games Mustangs and Rev will have to play before a "winner" will be decided. Board meeting 4/14. Hopefully the game(s) can be scheduled before State Cup. Not sure if that is good for Mustangs though, would hate for any of their players to get hurt right before SC.

Would it be fair to infer you have no concern for Rev players who might become injured before State Cup?
