Re: finding a team after signing day
So if there is a DD with a birth date in that range playing in lake highlands they should not be.

Re: finding a team after signing day
I'm talking about new AP teams playing in primetime that have half younger kids and half older kids that are playing select and in the primetime league with a new team.AtThePitch wrote:Aug. - Dec. 2005 birthday DDs are not permitted to play in Lake Highlands as they are still considered U10 and not eligible for select as of this soccer year.

I know of several teams with split rosters of younger 05's and older 05's that also play in Lake Highlands and other leagues.lulu22 wrote:Maybe a few teams in the Sunday PT league have a couple of Jan thru July players here and there, but from what I know if these teams they are mostly comprised of Aug thru Dec 05 players. Unlikely these PT rosters will stay intact going into qualifying. Once we see the bulk of the Jan thru July 05 that chose to drop in to AP 05 the rosters will be in for a major reshuffle.
Can you list them please? PM if you don't want to broadcast it.

Re: finding a team after signing day
My team is no different. We are almost there when it comes to having a complete team of 06s. So close yet so far, haha. Coaches are having to do the same thing the parents are having to do. Relax and be patience. Remember its a long journey to the end, so find a home the your DD enjoys and is developing. Again speaking from experience North Texas parents get way to wrapped up into the Lake Highlands or bust mindset. Good luck finding a home for your DD

Re: finding a team after signing day
If you notice on the FBR compared to the Contact list for 06AP the rankings list is shorter. One reason is there are a few teams that do not have three games in yet. But another reason is because a few of the teams on the contact list are still using some 05s so I haven't included them in the rankings.
In the past few weeks I have been contacted multiple times and told a team on the rankings was still using an 05. I contact the coach or manager and they let me know their team dynamics. If they are still using an 05 I take them back out of the rankings and tell them to let me know when they do have all 06s with no 05s and I will put them back in the rankings once they get three 06AP games in. In every conversation the coaches and managers have been extremely nice and I have enjoyed getting to meet new soccer folks!!
I know there are teams that use 07s on the 06AP listing. In some cases teams may use an 07 to give the 07 a more competitive game and the 07 has a 07 team of her own within the club. In other situations it may be because they don't have enough 06s to play if they don't use 07s. When you call coaches or managers ask them how many 06AP players they have that they feel are committed. From personal experience with my older one it is not fun showing up on signing day and not having enough for a team to make. With the 05/06 they can still play up if they don't have enough 06. But for the 06/07 they can't for select so if you want to play 9v9 as an 06AP player on an 06AP team definitely ask lots of questions and do your homework. The majority of the teams on the ranking list do have enough 06AP players and it will be fine. Clubs and coaches have been planning and preparing for this transition.

Re: finding a team after signing day
I will say that '05 and '04 teams were still posting for players after QT in previous years. Some D1 teams
Also, I think position matters. Keeper, defender, and forward for some teams is usually a need.

Re: finding a team after signing day
I am hearing that the goal and field issue might be getting fixed. So 05's and 06's could be 9V9. I am still planning for 11V11 because that's still a steep hill for LH.
That shrinks rosters and shrinks opportunities for all.
Whats the average roster size for 11V11 or 9V9 Select?
Scenario..
If 20 teams are on 05 D1 now with an average roster of 16. That's 320 girls in D1LH.
If it goes 9V9. Roster sizes might shrink to 13. That's 260 girls with the same amount of teams. That could be 60 girls losing the opportunity to play D1.
The only group that knows there landscape is the 06's. Some of us are going to see a lot of eye opening competition. Especially if your DD was a Aug-Dec Birthday.
Good luck if you are asleep at the wheel!

Juicebox I thought it was a done deal that 05AP was going to be 11v11 in Lake Highlands? What about Arlington and Plano?

I simply do not understand the rush to sign? I understand the clubs motivation, but not the players. Especially in a year with so much change.
Obviously just because you are promised a spot or told you have a spot, doesn't technically mean your "signed" until July 1, however, I think the "rush" you may be speaking of is due to the tumultuous weeks leading up to signing day. Many DDs and their families just want the stress to be over and to just be settled in to a team. The process is often grueling and extremely stressful if your DD is team-shopping And trying to find the right fit. If you happen to find a good thing, probably want to try and lock that up. But yes, have heard of a few stories were coaches have dumped players that were promised spots on June 30 or July 1. There ARE spots after July 1, and it's true teams often leave a spot open for a special player that might happen to magically appear and be GREAT (as several have mentioned), but it's a gamble. The few spots that are left and available might not be just open for the taking for your DD--other players might've played their hand the same way, which minimizes your choices and chances of finding 1) an open spot, and 2)a good fit and 3)a good coach even more. Most ethical coaches that i have seen like to settle their rosters by mid-June, definitely by week 3. With AP, though, things could be a little crazier.
