You posted that one under the wrong alias.

My prediction... FCD will be the only club with DA. All other clubs will decline DA..

That's a history Sting is will walk away from with a great deal of reluctance.
Also Solar is not going to jeopardize it's current position with US Soccer.
Texans have a great deal of pride in their club and it's ability to produce World Class players.
I don't have inside sources so let's see. The idea was that the DA would be subsidized by US Soccer so not seeing the negative financial impact to the clubs that have been admitted (just loss of control and dilution of ECNL Teams).
This is of course a complete waste of everybody's time writing and reading since it will just play out but hey why not.

Clubs will have to think long and hard on how they will fund DA when you don't have additional income to help subsidize.

They don't have to fund it. Parents will pay for DA just like they do any other league. I believe the boys had to pay for it in the beginning, and Solar still charges to play. Only FCD and Texans after U13 is free.

US Soccer is only funding the administration of the league (requiring a small player registration fee per player) like they do for the NWSL and will not charge clubs/teams for any DA tournament fees. The member clubs/parents are responsible for the rest of the expenses. Clubs can choose to fund some, all or none of the player costs. USSF ideally wants it to be free to the player but the club has to manage getting to that point.

If that's the case, then what would be the difference between DA and ECNL? Pay-to-Play, right?

And therein lies the argument. A parent/player will have to weigh what is best for them individually. Over time, those wanting to make the National Team circuit will be selected from DA clubs primarily. That is one obvious way USSoccer will promote their league. That, coaching standards, and curriculum. Along with number of training sessions, reduced tournaments, and lack of high school sports. Having scouts at training sessions, and local National Team camps will need to be factored in as well. It is all about what you are willing to pay/play for.--and eventually possible not have to pay for.
So far, only LAGalaxy, I believe, have stated outright that their girls DA program was fully subsidized.

As noted upthread the Pateadores out of Costa Mesa, CA has stated their girls DA will be free as well. Their '03s and 04s had their first DA "trials" this past Sunday.
