As far as travel, it's a no brainer Dallas teams benefit. Dallas teams three travels , other groups 4 travels within region. Dallas teams 9 home games six road games. This is all contingent on lone star dropping out.

Does the DA allow back to back games on the same weekend?

Good question, my guess is yes, just not more than one game in a single day.

Would be a great development opportunity for our TX girls.

Probably one that Dak missed in his pointy football development process, and it showed.

Very Happy

The addition of the Real Colorado group increases the validity of this region on the national scene. That group seems to have solid ties to the national team having multiple girls selected hear lately.

Add rush to that also, but not here lately. We want to compete against those clubs having success in the national level. These new clubs in the region, I think, will strengthen our development and reduce those that question.

okay yes they do have back to back games. Usually you try and schedule both Colorado games sat and sunday to cut down on the trips. Now for the record the DA is funded by USSF there is no charge for the league. The clubs are charging coaches fee, field fee, travel, per diem, etc. The USSF would like it to be fully funded and does offer some scholarships they are trying to bring down the cost so that money isn't the deciding factor talent is.

Now if a local team drops out of DA my bet is sting although I don't really see them doing it. They pride themselves as a leader in girls soocer so don't see them taking a back seat here

Yes, Lonestar informed parents in a meeting last Thursday. While they were quick to publish announcements of joining the DA, Lonestar will not put out anything public about leaving DA.

Houston is having issues getting things together. Current proposal, is Dash will run both Houston DAs with one program in North Houston and one in South Houston. However, there has been scant details, and even fewer actions, at this point.

Right and league fees have never been the big cost of playing.  How many airfare trips per year is a big factor.

Colorado, KS, Out of state National Events 3+? in NC,CA,IN?  I guess we wont know until the final conferences are nailed down.

Travel expense will be part of any regional and national league. Lower airline cost can be found to reduce cost if you willing to miss work or school.

Just curious as I honestly don't know the answer...

What % of kids in the Boys DA still attend a "regular" public or private HS as opposed to attending a "Soccer Academy" or are home-schooled to allow for more flexibility in scheduling academics vs soccer practice?

BW...are you referring to a "Barcelona" type soccer school academy? I picked Barca just as an example, but I am not aware of any of these type of "soccer boarding schools" in the Dallas area or in the US for that matter. Although I am not a fan of homeschooling, there may be some families going that route. I do have a friend that his teenager plays hockey at an elite level and homeschooled / online / etc. to get through HS in order to meet training and travel commitments.

The schools are out there, you just dont hear much about them. Mine attended one in Coppell for one year as she was an FDSP student at City Futsal. Class day ended for them at 1pm so that the afternoon could be spent on the court.

FC Dallas has a similar setup with either Frisco ISD or a local charter school in the area, not sure what it is.

I am aware of those programs, (more so with City Futsal), but that is not what BW is talking about (unless I totally missed it)....BW is referring to academics in conjunction with soccer training, hence his comment about homeschooling or "soccer academy"  - again I am assuming with the mainstream academics as part of the program, otherwise why mention these as an alternative to private or public HS for flexibility in mind.

The way I understood the question was as it pertains to what we have here in the states. We do not have a La Masia setup here in the US apart from IMG. So everything is tied to some form of charter school or public school agreement. The one mine attended also had hockey players I believe or had had hockey players at one time.

I'm talking about any kind of alternative program to what I call a "typical" public or parochial school schedule - i.e. Classes from ~8a-3p M-F, extracurricular activities take place outside of those hours.

Whether it's home school, in-house within the club, or a privately run alternate academy that provides a more flexible academic schedule to accommodate an increased focus on a sport.

I'm just curious if the majority of kids currently in the Boys DA still attend a regular public (Plano, Hebron, Southlake Carroll, etc.) or parochial HS (Jesuit, JPII, PoP, etc.) vs. giving that up in order to participate in DA.

Think St.Mary's in MN and one in IL have joined IMG as residential academies.

I believe the FCD boys attend Lone Star High School, a deal they worked out with FriscoISD.

I never really heard about IMG, until a few years ago when they came to Plano to play my DD's school football team. I heard someone talking about them and checked (not that I was interested) on their soccer program. Roughly $70 grand a year plus odd expenses here and there.

I'm not knocking IMG, might be right for some, but wow, that's more than an Ivy League education.

IMG produces a lot of scholarship money for players attending school. Also, the national team and other teams do a lot of training at their facilities.

You have just as good or better chance to sign a letter of intent if you just move into Allen or Plano school district. At a fraction of the cost.

hearing the boys national team will not continue its residency program at IMG. Basically IMG scholorships top athletes from multiple sports to create the buzz. It then sells to parents that if your kid only came here he/she could also be one of those successes.

Not to get all negative about a bunch of girls chasing their dreams (and apparently succeeding), but the IMG list of schools and commitments isn't as impressive as I expected. Frankly, it pales in comparison to what most any other major soccer club in Texas produces.
Now the IMG pointy football list? That's incredibly impressive.
