04 Boys Classic Teams

The following are what looks like will be the Classic teams
and divisions for 04B/U15, with a few surprises:

Looks like a couple of teams that had a BYE into the Classic League are not coming back.

Anybody know what happened to Ayses (Gold) and the High Plains Drifters?

The High Plains Drifters decided to compete in Plano because some of the kids and the parents decided it was not in the best interest of everyone to drive a total of eleven hours for one game a week for twelve weeks straight. Classic league would not work with us for two games in a weekend so we decided to go elsewhere. These kids are Freshmen in High School and wanted to enjoy going to football games and other activities. Our pool of caliber players is not the biggest so hard to just find new kids. Therefore we will just have to meet up in tournaments. It was fun while it lasted.

That makes sense... That is a tough drive from Amarillo to Dallas every weekend for just one game, I give you guys credit for what you did last year.

Ayses Gold coach Ross Foster coaching Liverpool 04B ECNL. FCD Lopez sure did luck out.

Looks like Solar Haylock moved most of his Solar team over to ECNL as well. A great move....for everyone else that stayed in classic Div 2, they don't have to hear "the mouth" anymore. Did the Liverpool Toshack coach change clubs and take Haylock's division II spot? Team move with him?

Div I FCD Hedges now Solar? I'm sure there is some back story to that one!

Many familiar team names, but with different coaches, and many familiar coach names but with different clubs. Should be interesting.

I am kind of surprised; it seemed like FCD ETX usually had a Saturday and a Sunday game since they were driving in from Longview (could be wrong).

in the past Classic has allowed west texas teams to play a late game on Sat and an early one on Sunday - don't know what changed

Before the season started last year I emailed our youth commissioner to see about having a couple of weekends of with two games, I did not ask for every weekend because I wanted to be nice about it. You know who the email went to and I was phoned by her and told that in 2014/2015 season, that was the last time that an Amarillo team would be allowed to play two games in a weekend. No explanation just that the answer was no. I even went as far as that I would contact each Coach that we would be playing and ask them if they minded us playing two games on a weekend and that they might have to play on a Sunday, if they didn't like the idea, then they would be a Saturday game. No response to that request either from the League.  We had over half our parents pulling suicides by leaving at 2:00 a.m. to get to the 9:00 game to turn around and drive back home in the same day. I was scared to death that some parent that had another player in their car was going to have a wreck in the middle of the night and something bad was going to happen. Luckily it never did. Plano has always allowed the Amarillo teams to play one late Saturday and a early Sunday, as well as Arlington which our Club is very grateful for.  Our Club does have a older girls team in Lake Highlands and they allow the two games for them. My thoughts were that if you were a Got Soccer Guru and you know the scheduling program you should be able to put the certain parameters into the program and the computer should be able to schedule accordingly, for all out of town teams not just ours. If we only lived two hours away(Longview and Wichita Falls), like most of the other out of town teams it would not be a problem for us playing one game a weekend. I know I am just bitching but thanks for letting me tell our side of the story. So if anyone has any pull with the decision makers in Classic League put a good word in for us and someday we might be back.

Most of the classic people just need to die off already. Walking zombies at best, stuck in their ways.

"A special shout out to the HP DRIFTERS for doing their part to elevate the game throughout all of the North Texas territory. Definitely want to see more of them in the tournaments as they have demonstrated a high caliber of play."

Which tournaments are the HP Drifters looking to play? What about Labor day?

Thanks for the compliments about the team. We have picked up a couple of new players and lost a couple to other sports or not wanting to play what we call travel soccer up here in this part of Texas. We are definitely a more well rounded team this year. We will play Plano Labor Day, Texans Fall Festival, and either the Ken Smith or the Real Colorado Showcase, since they are usually both the same weekend. We are looking at some other out of state showcases. I am sure there are others but most of these boys will be playing High School soccer in Spring so that part of playing both at the same time will be new to these kids and parents. In High School half of our district games are 2 hours away from Amarillo.We will just have to see if the funds and desires are available. We feel that the level of our play is hopefully of caliber to go play in some of these tourneys in the gold brackets and show our true abilities. You never know we might be back trying to qualify for Classic League next season.
