SLIGHTLY SKEWED

Four games have been played and there are some unforeseen developments. Four games means four offensive and defensive performances have been turned in so with that we will generate the season's first Gameday Power Rating.

What is the Gameday Power Rating?
It is a mathematical equation where each game played,  each goal score and each goal conceded is factored into a rating number.  A POSITIVE number identifies how much better a team is playing above the average team within the set of 10 teams. It is a gauge of performance, not the position in the Standings.  (A NEGATIVE number identifies the deficiency a team is from the average team.)  

The equation:
Goals scored - Goals conceded / # of games = Average goal differential.  
Add 1 point for a win. Add 1/2 point for a draw. Subtract 1 point for a loss.
The sum equals total points divided by 2 which  equals the GPR.

What the GPR IS NOT-  it is not a number to compare teams outside of it's own set, or league. It is not like the youthsoccerrankings.us that is able to compare all teams.  This rating number only works within a set to compare all teams within that set. Sometimes, a team can jump the performance over another team ahead in the standings because it's a gauge of overall performance.

Here is the GPR and team observations:

2.8 CHELSEA EAST appears to be the most complete roster with the addition of some new talent.  What's most startling is that they only allowed 3 goals in the first four games against teams in the top half of this list.  Keep in mind that this is one of two teams promoted from Div 2.

2.5 DALLAS KICKS is also a team that had some turnover,  but is performing at a very high level.  They are currently the #1 scoring team with 14 goals.

2.2 FCD-KANG is the other Div 2 promoted team and is also off to a great start.  They had a draw vs. FCD Premiere and a win over FCD Pino so the Club has it's eye on this team.  Big game coming up vs. Kicks this week - which team is going to make a statement?

1.0 FCD-PREMIERE came out of the gate slowly only scoring 3 goals in their first 3 matches. This is despite the addition of a lot of new talent. Coach Dane has a lot of options but has to also manage a deep bench. Did a strong performance this past week point them in the right direction and propel them back to the top where they're more accustomed?

0.3 TEXANS-RANGEL is the final team in the top half of Div 1, and has a +2 goal differential. Signature win is a 2-0 shutout of Texans-Faber.

As you can see there is a tightly bunched group at the top. Keep in mind that 2.8 / 2.5 / 2.2 represents a small gap in performance. This will begin to separate as more games are played head to head starting with the Kicks vs. FCD-Kang this week.

There is also a tight grouping near the bottom. Conversely as you get into the negative numbers; -1.5 / -1.6 / -1.7 signal virtually an identical performance so there is no need for any of these teams to hit the panic button.

There's a lot of football left to be played this season.  The early big prize is that coveted #1 spot after the first 9 games.  That team traditionally receives an invitation to play in the Dallas Cup.

Stay safe out there and protect yourselves at all times! Refs- don't be shy with those Yellow cards, you know who you are.

Through 6 games played it appears that there are three tiers, or levels of performance. The Table bears this out, but the tightness of the GPRs indicates a very competitive Division.  

TOP TIER
2.5 Chelsea East
2.3 Dallas Kicks
2.1 FC Dallas Premiere
1.7 FC Dallas Kang
That .4 difference between CE and FCD-P represents roughly a 1/2 of a goal difference in performance per game.  This is a very close margin between the top 3.

MIDDLE TIER
0.1 FC Dallas Pino
-0.1 Solar
-0.1 Dallas Texans Rangel
-0.1 Dallas Texans Faber
There are differences in the Table, but the GPR indicates a virtually identical performance.

BOTTOM TIER
-2.4 Dallas Texans Badi
-2.7 FC Premiere

Due to the alternative scheduling by the League; not completely finishing the first cycle of 9 games and pushing ahead with the "Spring" season games this is a snapshot look at the GDPR.  For the first time ever we've cranked out the numbers with lopsided numbers of games played. However,  the results are very interesting and may forecast how the year finishes.

DIVISION 1
4.0 CHESLEA EAST is the de facto winner of the Fall season. There is a new sheriff in town! They have more ratings points despite only playing 9 games.
3.7 FC DALLAS PREMIERE is actually in 3rd place, however come in with the second highest rating due to in part to only 1 loss in the season.
3.4 DALLAS KICKS who are in second place come in with the third best performance.
2.5 FC DALLAS KANG have had a strong performance also with only 2 losses.

0.5  FC DALLAS PINO is a crafty bunch and top the middle of the pack.
-0.9  DALLAS TEXANS FABER got off to a terrible start but the reigning State Champs remain a tough out.
-1.2  DALLAS TEXANS RANGEL are below Solar on the table but have had a better overall performance.

These bottom 3 teams are squarely in the relegation zone and need to regroup quickly.

-3.5 DALLAS TEXANS BADI

DIVISION 2
We backed out the games vs. FCD Red and the numbers are more telling.

5.0  FALLS TOWN as predicted are making their march to Div. 1 promotion. They could likely defeat half of the teams in D1 and will make a nice addition.
4.7 FC PREMIERE with fake birth certificates or no (LOL),  are a team challenging for promotion. What is going to happen if they get promoted and the Forzi team gets relegated?
3.5  RAYOS is the second team challenging for that second promotion.

At the end of the month we'll crank out the final Fall numbers.
