CLASSIC LEAGUE FALL SEASON WINNER
Why is this a big deal? The elephant in the room of course is the invitation to represent the Classic League in the 2019 Dallas Cup which apparently has been earned, by the slimmest of margins by Chelsea East!
After 8 games Cleasea East and Dallas Kicks both stand at 19 points, and as they tied each other 1-1 so that is not a tiebreaker. Chelsea East has a 13 positive goal differential to the Kicks 11 which gives them the edge.
In the 8 games when you look at the common opponents, it is Chelsea East who again comes out slightly ahead with a 20/9 goal differential to the Kicks 20/10 goal differential.
At the risk of sounding argumentative, just give it to the newcomers! Either team could represent the League and North Texas soccer well, but Chelsea East over the past 3 years has proven and has been an example of perseverance with their promotion from Division 3, to Division 2 and now in Division 1. If that is not a ringing endorsement of what the Classic League stands for, I don't know what does?
Any opposing views based on the actual numbers are welcome?
