96s (D1)....WTH is going on?
96s (D1)....WTH is going on?
Last night Solar Red lays 5 goals on FCD (score was 5-2). This comes with SR going into the game with a record of 1 win, 1 tie, 7 losses and having lost to FCD a few weeks earlier.
Seeing last night's result, I'm more inclined to think that FCD has some big issues (rather than Texans or SR making a resurgance). I did hear FCD has been missing a couple of defenders...is this all that's going on?
Someone, please enlighten me.

You are funny. The real story is how Dfeeters have been able to raise above the 96 group and to dominate all teams. Until someone chimes in about WTH is going on? You can enlighten all of us. On how the dfeeters approach development for the long term. You should be able to tell us better than anyone else!socrocks wrote:OK....so FCD is beating Texans 2-0 and game is called with a few minutes left (due to weather). Few days later, Texans beat them 4-0 in replay. So, I'm thinking uh-oh Texans have found their mojo. I say this because to that point, Texans had only scored 4 goals total in 8 LH games.

For starters, Feet are not "dominating all teams". We're in a good stretch and have been fortunate to do enough to get some good results. We have 2 great coaches, have experienced little turnover and the girls have learned to put some of the pieces together and show some progress. In the last year, or so, we've learned how to score...not just possess the ball. I'd suggest that Sting went through the same cycle a couple of years ago.
Enough about Feet. I really would welcome input on what's happening with FCD. I truly believed they were going to be a big factor this year.

Re: 96s (D1)....WTH is going on?
Well there you go! You answered your own question. Just might be that FCD is having a bad stretch. Don't give up on them yet. And for Dallas Texans and Solar Red they might be trying to cycle up to a good stretch. Let's not focus on the negative things about the 96 teams. Let's look at the bright spots. Like the 96 Dfeeters. We all know about what does not work. Most people want to know about how the Top Team is getting it done. Not some shallow answer from a guy that we all know is not shallow at all! We all here are the ones that need to be enlightened.socrocks wrote:Off topic 2420...but I'll oblige.

FCD getting pounded 2 games in a row happens to be negative. But maybe there's more to the story than the score, that's all I'm trying to determine. I guess it's not a subject that anyone wants to address. So, moving on....
How 'bout dem Solar Blue? That's who you should be asking about their secrets for success. Now, there's a feel good story.

No one wants to talk about the 96 group because the Dfeeters have put the smack down on almost every team. And I do mean smack down! Solar Blue just will not go away quietly. What a mess Solar Soccer club is going to have when they goto ECNL maybe they can field two teams for the league.socrocks wrote:A forum is to discuss current events. Socrocks what would happen to a team that comes in last in LHGCL and first in PL? If it is even possible. This is just a hypothetical question.

FCD
We were missing both our starting middle defenders against Texans.
No big story here, just lack of anyone in the middle who had expereince directing traffic and it showed. We were highly susceptable to forwards crossing zones and getting dropped. Trust me I know, my dd was the one directing the middle and she had never done it before.
But dang why are you so intersted in beating a dead dog? I would think D'Feet would have much bigger fish to fry, or are you trolling the bottom for some gossip?

Re: 96s (D1)....WTH is going on?
I was surprised at the outcome of the Texans game. I was equally surprised by the outcome of the SR game. Short of a 2nd hand piece of info I'd received that a couple of kids were out vs. Texans, I truly had no idea why suddenly it seemed the flood gates were opening.
I've gone out on a limb several times on this forum....predicting good things for FCD. My intent was only to try to get a handle on why the lopsided results (injured players, coach not at games, etc). Sorry for offending.

Re: 96s (D1)....WTH is going on?
I'll talk, though. After seeing Solar Blue for the 2nd time this Fall I do want to heap some praise on them. With the exception of Sting, right now, IMO, Solar Blue is playing the best soccer of any team we've faced this Fall in LHGCL. They are organized, agressive, possess/pass well and play very hard for the full game. For them to step into a tough, competitive division and show so well is commendable. This group should be very proud, they've come a long way. Keep it up.
Thanks...I'll hang up and listen (to myself) now.

Socrocks what do you think about Rev? Are they still heading to FCD I wonder?socrocks wrote:Seems no one wants to talk '96 soccer at all, anymore. Not sure why we even need a forum.

Now that I think about it....I think I saw them wearing FCD uni's in their game vs Sting last night. And I just checked, it is showing the name change on gotsoccer (FC Dallas South).
I wonder why the name hasn't been changed on the LH website. Nevermind, I answered my own question.

I enjoyed watching the game last night. IMO, best game I saw this fall.
During the game it was evident why Feet are the top team in the standings right now. Very good possession as a team, and not a weak spot in the line up. I would say possesion was probably 70% Feet, which is difficult to beat. Feet seem to move better without the ball than any other team I have seen, constantly creating space for themselves.
Also, I think I saw a Feet player make the save of the year in that game. Too bad the mystery videographer wasn't there so it could be shared.
Two yellow cards, one to each team. IMO, both were accurate. (I thought the ref crew did a good job last night.) Girls on both teams were fiesty, but when they crossed the line the ref would call them on it.
I am proud of the SB girls. They have done a good job with a beat up bench. (I don't think a healthy bench would have made a difference last night - but, as with most other teams, they have been playing with (and without) a lot of injured girls all Fall.)
Here is hoping the feel good story continues in the Spring!

Re: 96s (D1)....WTH is going on?
Despite all of the things SB is currently doing right, IMO, your coaching (whether KS's of RS's call) is doing your girls a disservice by only putting 1 forward, up top. You have all the tools in place to think more offensively. And perhaps this was just an adjustment made for our game, I really don't know. But what should have been decent scoring chances were quickly shut down b/c the lone forward had no support. It's hard enough to score in this league, even when blasting everyone forward.
I share this input in hopes of implementing a change in time to play Sting! I imagine a healthy Sting will have something to say about the standings before it's all over with. Anything Feet can do to help...we're here for ya.

BTW, I am not saying the other teams aren't experiencing the same thing. Sounds like FCD and Sting may have similar problems. But I am most familiar with SB.
Hopefully SB will have a few more girls back in time for the Spring.

Re: 96s (D1)....WTH is going on?
Hopefully high school soccer doesn't present a whole new wave of injuries for the players.sloppy joe wrote:Obviously, I can't read the coach's mind, but I am pretty sure that a lot of SB's formations this fall have been dictated by which players could suit up. I don't know if you watched our substitution rotation, but it has been meager due to injuries. IMO, the SB girls play with amazing resiliency considering the injuries they have sustained and the minutes they are playing. (I think the night they played Feet, SB had at least three girls who couldn't play at all, and two who could only play limited minutes.)
