Still, at least you made sure it went no further...
I seriously doubt the coach is not going to inform the parents if that is truly the case, think about it. Do you really think he thought a 14/15 year old girls team is going to keep that one quiet for longer than it takes to untie their orange F50s?

Absolutely agree with that. (Except when you're asking them to steal money from their parents for you.)

Before we voted to leave our old club for Liverpool, coach promised the girls and parents that we would not merge. He promised that if Liverpool forced us to merge we would move again. Needless to say HE LIED! Lost tons of credibility with alot of the girls on the team and many of the parents.
North Texas soccer is out of control.
Coaches out of control.
The very first thing my daughter did when she walked in the door is tell me what her coach told her. Inappropriate to tell a 14 year girl to keep secrets from her parents.
My daughter will not be back next year. She will not be playing for Liverpool period!

I believe in people. I'm not that jaded to think people lie all the time.
So yes, I believed my coach and I expected him to honor his word.
Now, things change and many times we can't control how and when they change. The coach could have stood in front of the parents and made his case. Take his beating like a man and move on. I would have respected him more!

Have either of you spoke to the coach yet to get his/her side of the story. You as parent can hold him/her accoutable. They cannot merge teams in the middle of the season without the parents. It doesn't sound like the girls misunderstood, however you never know.

My concern with this more than anything is what kind of relationship does this coach think he has with the players where he feels confident he can tell them to keep things from their parents and they will do it? I had a year in that camp, I chalked it up to experience. Just make sure the players are happy, everything else will fall in line.

It's not the point of the merge. I could honestly care less about that - two equal Plano teams merging = one Plano team. It's not like they are going to make breaking news, set new records, or anything else above and beyond. Look out ECNL here we come!!! Merges happen all the time. It is the principle that he told her to withhold the information from her parents. This is just unacceptable.

Re: teams merging
respectfully, i would submit that you contact the coach and then make a decision. relying on a kid to verbatim tell you what happened and in context is dicey. it seems foolish for any adult to think that 15 kids can keep a secret about anything.................

Normally I would agree but when you have 4-5 girls stating the same thing and all of them discussing it on Facebook between them I find it hard to believe that they miss understood or got some thing out of context. Yes it does seem foolish for an adult to think any number of kids will keep it a secret, but why even go there and then expect the kids to hide it from their parents. Best case scenario would have been disclose the information to the parents/kids at the same time when the time is appropriate. The coach should be someone the kids can look up to and not only respect but be able to trust. When they are being told not to discuss this information with their parents (regardless of the message) it is just bad business and not an environment I want my DD to be associated with. We have been with the team several years (multiple coaches and multiple clubs). My DD continues to return here because of the other girls not because of the level of play, club name, coach, etc (yes she has played for the Texans and other clubs) but when she comes home asking me why she should tell me something discussed at practice because she didn't see any harm in the message is concerning to me as her parent. I am thankful my DD is as open as she is so little things like this don't end up becoming some thing big like this. https://www.txsoccer.net/t5653-paschal-girls-soccer-coach-resigns-after-investigation

I think you should just leave the team and stop slamming this coach. If you do not have the courage to discuss the situation with him/her, why keep bringing it up. You need to become the parent and find out what happened and correct the situation or let it go. To post the link even suggesting the two situations could be the same, is out of line.

Did you merge the season you left or will it be a full club contract year later? The way I read this is that you would not merge when you changed clubs and you did not at that time. Things may change over the course of a year.
Now it will be a new year. Are 100% of your current roster coming back next year even if the teams didn't merge? I doubt it.
He kept his promise for the contract year. Every new contract year brings new promises for that new year.

I totally agree with EPL Fan. For you even insinuate that these are the same things is irresponsible and disgusting. I would request that the moderator remove your post.
Knowing how kids think and listen (or don't listen) that conversation went like this. Hey girls it looks like the club wants to merge the teams after all. Don't tell anyone yet till it is official. I'll tell your parents ok so let’s keep it quiet.
The 4/5 girls that think they heard the same thing were probably whispering to each other about the guy they sit next to in History and had to piece the speech together.
