I'd like to predict Ryan to win, but if defense wins championships, this game belongs to Midway, 1-0.

Even though they will be our rival when my DD gets to high school - I'm rooting for Wakeland! Let's go Wolverines!!!!

4A Girls State Championship was decided last Saturday in a shootout between Rockwall and Frisco Wakeland. Wakeland will win it all. Had Rockwall won that game, Rockwall would win it all.

11:04: And, as usual, we are already running behind. Worth noting that Midway did play a few D/FW-area teams, and had nothing to show from it. Two 0-0 draws, to Red Oak and Flower Mound.

10:59: Introductions have been made. Wakeland's the home team.

10:55: Teams lining up behind the north goal. It's cloudy, and the wind is blowing from the south, pretty briskly.


Don't know the formations yet, think Wakeland's going to play a version of the 4-4-2, while I was told that Midway plays three at the back, so I'm guessing 3-4-3.

Description of the goal from the Waco Tribune:

Katey Carmichael shuttles in a cross from the left side, and Ashley Kingston lunged forward and got her right foot to it. The ball rolled past keeper Cameron Carter, who was splayed out on the ground in an effort to stop it, but it got by her. It was a well-played goal, and Wakeland is up 1-0 with 30 minutes left.

that blog is great.. almost like the espnsoccernet gamecast. Impressed Ryan is bringing this kind of second half attack with a girl down... Hope they have something left in the tank if it goes into overtime..

wow, going to a shootout..

looked like a real nail biter according to the blog... end to end, and both keepers coming up big over and over to keep their side in the run.

With both keepers so strong the shootout will be wild too.
