Re: 2011 Region III Championship Brackets & Schedules
Fortunately, they all got pretty good draws. There are some weak teams in the event. My predictions for quarterfinals:
A: Lonestars, Atlanta Fire
B: Feet, NASA Elite
C: Sting, AFC Elite
D: CASL Black, MS/JFC Fire
Good luck everyone!

Re: 2011 Region III Championship Brackets & Schedules
It looks like "D" bracket is the easiest path to the quarterfinals. Of course, that may be because there aren't any Texas teams included in it and 3 PLC teams instead.socrocks wrote:Unfortunately, I don't think any of the Texas teams are playing very well right now. If all were in good form (healthy), any of the 3 would be capable of taking it all.

If either Lonestars or D'Feeters finish 2nd and the other 1st in bracket play, they will end up playing each other in the quarterfinals. Kind of like last year with LS vs. Dallas Texans.

Re: 2011 Region III Championship Brackets & Schedules
I'd say that Feet and Sting would probably viewed as #1 seeds in their bracket...with Sting having a tougher (next best team) than Feet.
Lonestars are probably a toss-up with Atlanta Fire....maybe a nod to Lonestars. But I'd say the A Bracket is the one with the toughest (next best team).
You're right Zygor....whether Feet were to win their bracket or take 2nd, they'll have a really tough quarterfinal game vs Lonestars or Atlanta Fire.

We just got our hotel confirmed yesterday through their travel agency and it is very apparent that logistics and cost have no meaning in their eyes!!!

Those rooms sound like a bargain compared to NYC hotels after PDA..the commute not so much. Look in the yellow pages for DD..designated drivers

Did Borat sing the National Anthem at opening ceremonies?96Guru wrote:Opening ceremonies were not that impressive. Never thought we would end up in a horse arena for the regional championships. Not to mention that it took over an hour to get out of the parking lot and when they announced the teams from each state, they left out South Texas and had to go back and look for the list. Very poorly organized.
Hopefully, the rest of the experience will be much better.

Re: 2011 Region III Championship Brackets & Schedules
Atlanta FC relies on defense to get through tough Group C
When asked which players stand out and make his team successful, Atlanta FC 96 Elite coach Leo Flanagan said, “The entire defense.”
“We’re a very competitive, very compact team” he continued. “We defend as a tight unit, and attack as a tight unit. It’s really all about team work.”
Atlanta FC marches into the Region III tournament after surviving a tough Georgia State Cup, and now must face an even more challenging Group C in Murfreesboro, Tenn. After a Friday game against BUSA 96 of Alabama and a Saturday match against North OKC 96 White of Oklahoma, Atlanta FC will face their toughest test in Dallas Sting 96 from North Texas.
The Sting 96 squad won the Region III tournament last summer and lost in a shootout in the national championship game in Overland Park, Kan. This year, the team has had to deal with some big injuries, and coach Beau Brown says it has learned a lot from both experiences.
“We’ve been through a lot of adversity, and we had to find new heroes this season,” Brown says. “It’s the motivation factor to get back to that level and play for [the national title] again.”
Sting 96 will rely on their Youth National Team midfielder Victoria Browman to control the pace, as well as defenders Gaby DeLeon and Delanie Davis to anchor down the back line. Allison Ganter has emerged as the team’s leading scorer, and will look to lead the Sting back to Nationals.
Game to Watch: Atlanta FC 96 Elite (Ga.) vs. Dallas Sting 96 (Texas-North) – June 19, noon

This guy must be an AFC Elite homer. They just lost 2-0 to BUSA 96. Imagine what Sting will do to them.#2420 wrote:U15s

Re: 2011 Region III Championship Brackets & Schedules
Dallas Fort Worth teams are like the Dallas Cowboys. If they don't win it all they suck. Which never has made since to me. So if our teams don't win the whole damn thing we don't get any credit from outsiders of Texas.zygor wrote:This guy must be an AFC Elite homer. They just lost 2-0 to BUSA 96. Sunday Regional Scores
Lonestars 96G Red - 4
Atlanta Fire United 96 Elite - 1
D'Feeters 96 - 0
NASA Elite - 0
Sting 96 - 1
AFC 96 Elite - 0
North OKC OFC 96 White - 0
BUSA 96 (AL) – 4
Monday Quarter-finals (12pm)
- Lonestars 96G Red vs. NASA '14 Elite (GA)
- Sting 96 vs. TNFC Impact (TN)
- D'Feeters 96 vs. Atlanta Fire United 96 Elite (GA)
- 95 CASL Spartan Elite Black (NC) vs. BUSA 96 (AL)
The winners of each of these groups play each other in the Semi-Finals. D'Feeters get the non-Texan side of the Semi's. I predict Sting vs. Lonestars and BUSA vs. D'Feeters in the Semi's. C'mon Texas!

Re: 2011 Region III Championship Brackets & Schedules
Things look good for Sting and Lonestars to meet in semis. CASL/BUSA game could be tight but CASL should probably advance. Lonestars should have no problem with NASA....Feet completely controlled the game. Interesting strategy by teams we faced in bracket. Following Feet's win in game 1, our next 2 opponents played not to win but to keep it close, in hopes of keeping goal differential down so they could try to secure the 2nd spot. We faced packed boxes games 2 and 3....not much fun. Expect a tough game vs Atlanta Fire today....this game probably the most uncertain quarterfinal match-up.
Have had great luck with the weather so far, a bit rainy and cool first 3 days. However today will be very hot and humid.
Good luck to the Texas teams.

Thanks socrocks. Watch out for Atlanta Fire's tall blonde Forward (#21). She seems to be a big part of the offense (goals & assists) from what I hear from the Premier League East teams.
