Solar Red 96 Empty Solar Red 96

Post by SolarRed96 09/06/11, 09:28 am

I have heard through the grapevine that Solar Red 96 will not make and Solar White will move up into DI.

Is this correct? How successful will the 2nd place DIII team be in DI this year? With ECNL teams moving out, maybe they stand a chance but maybe not. Thoughts?

Maybe I am not reading something right but Solar Gold will be the team coming up. Solar Red had to give up their spot due to that being the ECNL team from the current year. Solar and Solar Blue are the remaining teams in D1. Solar Gold will take Solar Red's spot for next year. They might change the name for Solar since their ECNL team will be called Solar for next year.

D1 will probably look like this next Fall.
Solar
Solar Blue
FC Dallas South
Tornados White
Solar Gold
Sting Royal
Texans Red North
Mustangs FC

Some of my fellow posters might chime in and let me know if that sounds right.

The way I read the rule. The Team "Most Closely Associated" with the ECNL Team loses the bye. I read that to mean the D1 team with the most players making the ECNL team loses the bye. Nothing is mentioned about that team being relegated. So for that team its back to QT. If that is Solar Red then no help to Solar white. If that team is one of the others then Solar White picks up a D1 promotion. In any event Solar will have no more than 3 D1 teams.

I was wrong:
The bye remains with the club, so they can get another team or any other players to play for Solar Tarrant. The only way another team will move up is if Solar informs the league they are giving up that D1 spot. And I doubt they will do that. Solar Tarrant not keeping 50% could affect PL teams though

Solar Red 96 Empty Re: Solar Red 96

Post by SolarRed96 09/06/11, 02:28 pm

Solar Red was having practices to field a D1 team according to the coach. The numbers were not there to keep trying though.

I was guessing that the lost bye was going to be the Solar team that finished the highest in D1 and that most of the ECNL team would be made up from that top team.

Solar 96 finished ahead of Solar Blue, and then Solar Red was in relegation zone before ECNL changes. It seemed that Solar 96 would become the outcast ECNL team that drops the bye, with players from Solar Blue and Solar Red being added to that ECNL team.

Solar Gold was moving up either way since they finished 2nd in D2.

So Solar Bue and Solar Red were left with byes, and Solar 96 is out. That means that if Solar Red doesn't make, Solar White moves up next.

There may be holes in all this because I'm not real familiar with however Solar is handling making their ECNL team. I was just guessing since Solar Red was trying to field a D1 team, that they were not the team giving up the bye.

In this scenario what prevents the Club from assigning the Solar Red bye to Solar? While Solar lost their bye if the Club forms a new ECNL team (Solar ECNL) and can repoulate the Solar roster I beleive they could give up their bye and be assigned the Solar Red bye. If so then Solar White remains in D2.

First and foremost, remember under current LHGCL rules that any BYE into LHGCL can be filled with whomever the club wants to fill it with (Club Bye System). There is NO required minimum number of players or coach returning from the prior year's team that earned the BYE. So a BYE earned by a team, earns it for the club, and the club has complete control over who fills the BYE the next year. (Of course LHGCL is an invitation only league, so they could step in if they really wanted to but it isn't supported by the current rules.)

So the Solar club has these three BYE's into 96 D1 earned by last year's teams:
Solar '96 or Solar Blue (one BYE lost because of ECNL)
Solar Gold (promoted from D2)
Solar Red (7th D1 but not relegated due to ECNL vacated BYE's)

Obviously Solar will let next year's Solar '96 have the top BYE (whichever it is), followed by Solar Gold, but who will fill the third D1 BYE if Solar Red cannot make? Solar White is the next logical choice since they are the next team in the club, they may have to change their name to Solar Red, and that would leave Solar White's D2 BYE unfilled.

One would think that Solar would prefer to fill the D2 BYE with some team (any team) rather than just letting it go back to LHGCL to fill with lower seeded teams thus opening another spot in the D3 Qualifiers. So if I were the coach/manager of just about any Arlington or Plano team, or any existing Solar coach who thought they could field a girl's 96 team, I would be calling Solar officials right now.

With over 20 at each of our Open Practices so far, I can't wait to see how many girls will be out at practice tomorrow and next week with the DI bye Smile .

Correct. There have been many teams that move up into a bye like this, only to lose almost every game. This is hard on everyone involved and many times the team disbands at the end of such a year. I have even seen a coach get fired in the middle of the year in this situation.

It does not matter that D1 will be different next year, this is still a team that was only second place in D3, winning only 9 of 16 games at that level. D2 was going to be a challenge for them as it is, they are the very bottom seed in D1 now. I would not want to be in that position, it could be a very long year ahead of them.

I was meaning that the team in going to see some influx of players and roster spots are going to be challenged. So I think it is good for the team to move to D-1. But some players may get knocked off by new players trying out! So I say good and bad for the team. Anyhow I hope it leans to the side of good.

Good points. Will the coach do what is necessary by letting some of the weaker players go in order to be competitive in D1?
