I admit I thought it was going to be the year of the Hurricane but Sting apparently wanted it more and then some. I heard that Hurricanes suffered a couple of soft red cards in OT...that has to hurt. If accurate what happened?
by looking at the game report (30+ fouls...5 yellows between them)....it appears there was some soccer amidst all the wrestling.
My guess is that nerves finally ran over and an elbow or a punch was thrown...but I wasnt there.

Brokedawg, what are you suggesting?
I believe Hurricanes got beaten in the game, no excuses. Unless there is a conspiracy theory somewhere about whether there were Red Cards or not behind the grass knoll.

Hurricanes allowed Sting to dictate game for too much of the time-when Hurricanes played their game, they ran thru the Sting defense. However, when they went into a defensive shell, Sting passed them to death.
Very physical game, which always favors Sting. Ref was weak; let Sting get away with hard fouls at the beginning of the game, but then called ticky tack fouls on both teams.
First player disqualified for Hurricanes deserved it, for stupidity if nothing else. Twice she obviously tugged on a shirt after she was beaten at midfield-he had no choice. Second DQ was terrible refereeing. Late in OT in the blazing heat, Hurricanes' national team forward came in late on a challenge; a dead leg, tired, challenge. She stayed on her feet and basically plowed the Sting player-neither went down. He pulled his yellow, and she was gone. Was it a foul? Absolutely, but one of the things a ref must do is know the situation, and this guy didn't. Down 2 players (and one of them arguably the best scorer in the country) and Hurricanes didn't have a chance.
Congrats to Sting; they showed a lot of heart and beat a great team.
