Not sure they are final/complete, though.

Looks like Tx Spirit had a nice weekend winning the event...including 2-0 win over D1 Sting (formerly Royal).

mailman wrote:got a question for anyone who might know. Did all the new Clubs that joined ECNL this year get placed in A bracket?
I dont think so Mailman. See below from the ECNL website.
ECNL National Championship Standings & the ECNL National Champions (U15 - U18 A-Flight):
In 2011-2012, the ECNL National Champion will be determined based on position in the ECNL National Championship Standings – A-Flight. All games played by an ECNL A-Flight team against other teams in the ECNL A-Flight will be included in the ECNL National Championship Standings. This includes conference games, cross-conference games, and games at national events. At the end of the regular season, the top 16 teams in the ECNL National Championship Standings – A-Flight will qualify for the National Championship Group at the ECNL National Championships, where they will play four games to determine the ECNL National Champion: a round of 16 game, a quarter-final, a semi-final, and a championship game.
ECNL National Championship Standings & the B-Flight ECNL Champions (U15 - U18 B-Flight):
In 2011-2012, the ECNL Challenge B-Flight will be divided into 2 divisions of 18 teams. All games played by a B-Flight team against other teams in the B-Flight will be included in the ECNL National Standings – B-Flight. This includes conference games, cross-conference games, and games at national events. At the end of the regular season, the top 2 teams in each division of the B-Flight will be placed into the B-Flight Championship Group at the ECNL National Championships, where they will play a semi-final and final to determine the B-Flight ECNL Champion. These 4 teams will all be automatically promoted to the A-Flight for the 2012-2013 season. In addition, the third and fourth place team in each division will be placed in a Promotion and Relegation Play-Off Group along with the 25th and 26thplace team in the A-Flight for one final spot in the A-Flight in 2012-2013.

I agree and disagree. This year you had the addition of some of the National league clubs (I think thats right)I was told that all new clubs and teams were looked at at an individual basis before their placement. There has been a history in the past of ECNL clubs moving up or down depending on their standing with the overall club ranking being a factor in the new teams entering ECNL and where they would be placed.
Going forward teams will move up or down depending on their year end results and standings and new teams entering will do so based upon their overall club ranking.

Definitely a debatable topic. I think it's safe to say that their placement at #30 on the list of the A flight shows how close they were to being put in the B flight.
There are no guarantees after this year, though, so if they would be "better served" in the B flight then that's where they will be, Texans influence be damned.

Re: ECNL Regional/Cross-Regional play kicks off this weekend
If I remember correctly....for the 95s, upon entry to the league (when they were u15 and brackets were being assigned for their 1st year in the league), there was an attempt made to qualify each team and try to assign them to the proper bracket (A or B). This was done by a combination of coaches/DOCs input and results of play. IMO, this is the best way to do it....it's the best formula for getting right in each age group. Then....promotion/relegation sorts things out over the next year, or so.
However when our group (96s) entered the league, teams were assigned their bracket based on the CLUB's overall performance/ranking in the older age groups. WTF? Absolutely ridiculous. So there were some very undeserving teams in the A Bracket, meanwhile....there were SEVERAL very good teams sent to the B Bracket. And why? Because their older teams didn't do as well. Illogical to me, and something they need to fix.
As far as how you integrate a whole set of new teams/clubs into the mix due to league expansion...well, ya got me. There were some very good and deserving teams that were promoted into the A Bracket this year. But there are still a few, including Solar, Real So Cal and Neusport who are also very solid teams that probably aren't too thrilled with being leap-frogged by Texans
(or others)...who didn't enter the league at it's inception and didn't really earn their way in to the A Bracket. (For the record...I think Texans shoulda/woulda been in A bracket if seeded based on their merits and entering the league last year). Just not sure how to make it fair to everyone at this juncture.
