Apparently not. 6 teams with Friday night games still have 8 AM games Saturday. TFC and DT South have a 6:15 on Friday, not too bad. Polaris and Dynamo, 7:30 PM, a little late for the 8 AM game, but worst of all, Liverpool and Spirit have 8:45 PM games and back at 8 AM.

I agree, tough schedule to overcome. It wouldnt be so bad if there ws some room for error. With Qtr Finals a team could have a bad game and get over it, maybe make the wild card.

It seems to me it is a "money grab." They let every team they could in and took the money, but when it came time to run an thorough tournanment they cut corners to stuff everything in. If they couldnt handle the load, then they should have capped the tourny

I agree with a cap on the number of teams to run the tournament properly...well said!

I don't think it would matter if there were 6 teams or 60. Not everyone is going to get their dream achedule. As big as NTX soccer is, and with many of the coaches having multiple teams in different age brackets it is nearly impossible to make everyone happy. Would you rather play back to back games early saturday morning (as one of my DD's has) or a late game friday with a short turnaround (like my other DD)? Neither is great, but you have to consider what else the coach has going on along with fields, refs, and everything else...especially with some coaches having 3 and 4 teams. Maybe clubs should start limiting coaches to a certain number of teams, maybe 2, that would certainly help tournament schedulers.

My argument is not that the schedule should be easier, i understand the schedule is tough and teams will have to overcome that. And with more games the schedule would be even tougher. But no qtr finals with this many teams is unacceptable.

I think everyone needs to take a step back and think about things here!

A. Playing even three games in a 2-3 time frame is WAY TOO MUCH SOCCER.

B. If your team happens to make it to the semi finals and or the finals, by that time they are worn out, at a high risk of getting injured, and not having much fun.

C. If you ask your kid after already having three games if they want to play more, 9 out of 10 will say NO.

D. It should be about letting them play the game they love and have fun, not about what the parents want.

E. Please don't come on here and hammer me, this is just my opinion.

Cat, I understand your point The way it stands now, you LOSE one game in your bracket, your probably done. A tournament should consist of at least four games total in my opinion and a quarter final. The tournament not take games or a game away from any team. In that case reduce amount of teams allow to enter the tournament or reduce entry fee. Three games played and go home is not a tournament when you dedicate your entire weekend to it. anyone team is this tournament should be a well oiled machine and good to go.

I have to agree with Cat...there are what, 14 teams in each division and you want to make a Quarter finals, which would allow roughly 60% of the teams in the division to go through? I think there has to be some moderation there, IMO not enough teams to justify a Quarter final round. I get the one loss thing, but people are are going overboard in the opposite direction. You want a 4 game minimum PLUS a Qtr Final, from start to finish a team reaching the finals would have played in 7 games in a three day period (really 2 1/2 days)...to me that is ridiculous for a 9/10 year old, you are just setting up the kids for failure and injury. I have 2 DD's in this tournament, if they both went start to finals I couldn't imagine sitting through 14 matches in 3 days.

Another good point, but myself or DD wouldnt satisfied with a 2 win/1 loss record and possibly go home. Late Friday night game and early saturday game is not good, but maybe thats another thread. Heck, I dont know, just my two cents. Idea

They fixed it....It's now one game Thursday night at 8:00, one Friday night at 8:00 and then one Saturday night at 8:00.

cheers Just kidding but then we couldn't complain about the short turn around.

If you wanted a 4 game guarantee you go play Michael Brown. 3 games is a lot for these girls! It is basically 1/3 of a season in 2 days. If you get put in a tough bracket then you need to suck it up and play who is on the schedule. My guess is that people aren't complaing that feel they have been put in an "easier" bracket. I have a 9 year old that is playing at 8:45 (past normal bedtime) Friday night and then again at 9:00 the next morning. You have to expect "indifferent" game times when you play in tournaments. Just try and relax and enjoy watching your kid play soccer. If you don't make it to Sunday it isn't the end of the world.

Interesting discussion. I don't have issues with brackets or quarter finals, but I do not understand the need for 8 pm games followed by 8 am games, then some teams have no games until 6 pm following the 8 am game. On the other side, the Primetime tournament has no Friday night games and 3 games Saturday with only a few hours between games. Not sure which is better, but it's interesting to learn how different tournaments handle scheduling and structure.

I never express any of this to my dd, only tell her to go play hard. Also, I think the Td is working on it as the schedule keeps being taken down and changed, so I applaud the effort and I realize it is impossible to make a group completely happy.

Lets do the math

As it was yesterday (waiting on new schedule to post)

4 divisions
14 teams
Two 4 team divisions and two three man division = 8 teams fighting for 2 spots and 6 teams fighting for two spots, hm? Not exactly symmetrical. One of the teams in the 3 team div is going to have to play a tough team in their div and then the tough of the other div, while the other teams will have it a little easier.

Shave two teams off the 14, leaving 12 teams in 3 divisions
Now you have three division winners and one wild card for Semi-finals
(This does not need any extra games, schedule can stand as original)

Or open this thing up and move two teams into the Gold, round out 4 div of 4 teams. 2 wild cards play 3 and 4 seeds, 1 and 2 seed get to watch and now you have a tournament with the addition of only 2 games

I like.

Schedules up, they made adjustments for the times. No bracket changes or just time changes

Are the Lake Park fields the small fields?

Looks like rain is coming through on Friday, 70% chance. Should clear up after that, in the 50's for the weekend.
