Wow, no one is mentioning concussions due to rock hard soccer balls or muscle pulls from tightening up in the cold. Kids don't die from cold. Where are you all when it is 110 out and there is a REAL danger present. With the exception of the really little ones this is about the parents not wanting to get cold. Get over it. Get your kid under armor gear, put on some long johns and quit whining.
I too have been to HS games that went below 32 degrees.

With strong parent opinions on both sides of this one the scheduler, who ever it is, cannot win.

PPL played yesterday. There were not 25-30MPH winds forecasted on the site I looked at. There was only a slight wind at the fields. The kids were fine once they started warming up and playing. Some of the parents did not come prepared and were uncomfortable. Those that watched from their cars were comfortable.

I talked to one ref and he said he was fine and not cold.

WE had a 10:00am game Saturday in Plano then off the the US vs. NZ game, all outdoors.Had a blast. DD never complained. I froze like a popsicle but, thats what soccer moms are supposed to do. It's like a right of passsage. Some people are under the impression this is a bows in hair , who can look the cutest in their uniform sport. I say bring it on. We love players like that lol!

You have a short memory. People on this forum were all over the LHGCL and Plano Labor day trying to get them to schedule around the heat...

Why does the LHGCL spring season start the 2nd weekend in February? There are several important games tomorrow and instead of playing soccer, they girls will be battling wind chills in the teens trying to survive. I don't understand the rush to get things started so early and when it is so cold. Can we not start playing in a month and shoot for 2 games a week or even let the season end a little later. I know for many age groups, the season is 70% over before it is even really spring and games are done before the end of April.

It isn't just LHGCL, rec leagues are starting up in a week or so as well. Nothing is more stupid dealing with the health and popularity of our sport than scheduling 5 year olds to play at 8am in February and this happens in basically every league across the NTX.

The average high in 30 days is 10 degrees higher and if we actually waited until the end of March the average high hits around 70. Instead we are heading out tomorrow to play a game when it will be in the 20s. Um, stupid.

My girls are academy age and I know that our leagues try to end before tournaments start up in May. The first Primetime tournament is the weekend of May 4th-May 6th so we want to get our 8-10 game season in before then. Factor in spring break and Easter and it doesn't make it any easier for the leagues.

Most leagues, if any, do not own the fields they play their games on....the cities own these facilities and only give the leagues X number of weeks to get their games in.

We had an 8:30am game Saturday (26 degrees 12 wind chill) in Plano. Yes it was cold, Yes I wish no one had to be out in it, but we sucked it up and played..our girls never complained once (except for the result which is another story)....

The league are in a no win situation with most parents/coaches....most cities make more money renting the fields for tournaments and camps than they do league play, so the less time alloted to league play the better for the cities who own the fields....

It's all politics....sorry to rant but this is a sore subject with me...

Oops, TS, Too bad we got rain this morning!! Only Railroad is playing tonight. I wonder if fields will have dried out enough for tomorrow night's games?

I hope not as I am dreading the trek to MOSS during rush hour. I swear schedulers at LHGCL have no common sense.

Um I love driving in Dallas on an evening during the week because of a canceled game!!
