force - FC Force in about the saddest display of club soccer ever? Empty FC Force in about the saddest display of club soccer ever?

Post by OMG_MOVE 11/04/12, 09:57 pm

OK, now I have seen everything. My BB was playing today at a rec game in PSA - Plano, and I had my 4 yr old DD with me and she always likes watching girls, so we got distracted by a girls game going on the field next to us. At first I barely paid attention, but I kept hearing a coach screaming about calls and I noticed no real referee or linesman. Just a center running around in a collared work shirt trying to keep the game going. One team was FC Force and I have no idea who they were playing, some tye-dye shirt team of some obviously rec players. The guy in the middle did pretty much what a dad ref would do, just kinda helped with out of bounds and called a few fouls if someone fell down - all fouls I saw were called on the rec team but nothing looked liked anything out of the ordinary, although, apparently it wasn't good enough as the FC Force coach and assistant coach were all over the poor dad. At one point the ref/dad yelled over, please go ahead and take over if you want to do it. It was pretty funny, so I kept watching. Right in front of my and my DD a ball was kicked out. The dad-ref didn't see it and I heard him ask the girls who kicked it out, a FC Force girled raised her hand and he gave it to the other team. Well, apparently this crossed the line as the FC Force coaches went nuts, screaming at the guy. He yelled back, you do it and started walking off. The rec coach I guess exchanged words and the next thing you know the FC Force coach was physically assaulting the old grey haired rec coach. I couldn't believe it, first of all the club team playing the rec team and they can't control themselves?

I talked to some parents of both teams as they walked by, the FC Force parents seemed thoroughly embarrassed, well, except for the ones saying that the game wouldn't count. Actually worried about the score after the actions of their coach, lol. One dad told me that FC Force had been actively recruiting their girls in the past and I guess there was some history. Also the old guy who got attacked had called the police, but I never saw them show up. There was an 04 club game after and their coaches had also gotten involved. Maybe they can give more insight as they were right behind the coaches.

I agree. Thats just pitiful. I have not heard of them either. Maybe he's related to the coach for one of the YMCA's down south that is always on the field yelling and threatening people. Youth soccer doesnt need all that

On one hand, this is all par for the course for Tony Bily and his ilk at FC Force. You're talking about a club built on competing in recreational leagues, even at the select levels. If you're going to train like an academy/select team then compete with the academy/select teams, not PSA.

On the other hand, it sounds like the ref sucked. No, that doesn't justify the idiocy of the FC Force coach. But statements like "you do it" by the ref are unacceptable. He is getting paid for his job so HE should do it. If that means throwing out the mouthy coach, so be it. But it sure doesn't mean asking a player "who kicked it out?" That sounds like a lazy official to me or at least one who doesn't take his PAID job seriously.

I don't think he was a paid ref, he was dressed business casual, lol - no whistle either. Plus, way too old for a PSA referee as he obviously drove himself to the game.

You're kidding right?

This is REC SOCCER at the U6/U8 level. This is not academy and no one is keeping score. There are no side judges. These games are reffed much more csually with refs helping to show kids how to throw in and giving do overs ect. This is how it SHOULD be in U6/U8 REC ball.

Get a grip.

Where are you getting your information? Scores are kept at the 04 level. Check the PSA website and see for yourself. And "this is not academy"? Of course it is for FC Force and many others that compete in these rec leagues? If parents are paying coaches of club teams to train their daughters 2-3 times a week and coach the games, that is the DEFINITION of academy soccer. There are also no throw in do-overs at the 04 level and refs don't instruct them how to do it properly. Get your facts straight before sticking your foot in your mouth.

And I almost forgot: Get a grip.

I got the impression that it was an 04 team seeing as how the next game on the field as described above was an 04 game.

And most rec leagues do not keep score until U10 and they do give do overs and second chances on throw ins and help with the learning part of the game which again, is what should be happening in rec at that age.

If the game was U13/14 then of course that is different and if so my apologies.

I'm with Xara about how this type of thing is usual for FC Force. Last time I coached against them their coach got tossed for using the F word in a match, lol. The time before that TB pulled his team off the field shortly in to the 2nd half as they were getting thoroughly drubbed by my rec boy's team and I guess losing with class isn't part of ESS. I don't have any ties to PSA soccer as my DD and BB now play select and since FC Force doesn't, I had kinda forgotten about them, but apparently they are still doing the same stuff.

Also, does it matter if is 04, or 14? When is it OK to assault the other coach or go after volunteer officials. Paid officials, FAIR GAME, but even I, one who dishes it out on occasion, won't do more than politely make fun of the volunteer dad linesman. Never seen a volunteer dad AR - that poor guy was just set up to fail.

It was 01's or the 5th/6th grade Rec division at PSA. FC Force played Spirit-Philips and loss 2-1. With no refs, not sure how they even recorded a score but PSA has already posted it on their website. Juventus 02 played FC Dallas 02 - Ciro right afterwards on the same field. Not sure what happened exactly in the Force game but the Coaches did start fighting for whatever reason. The Juve game was delayed because PSA had no refs for either game and things got a little out of control I guess. By halftime of the Juve game a Center ref and one linesman showed up.

The 04 or U14 question only has to do with if it's ok for a casual ref to ask somone who touched it last ect... Obviously not regarding assault.

I've asked the kids on the field "Who touched it last?" during games that I've reffed, what's wrong with that? Sometimes plays go bang-bang and it's hard to see from the angle you're looking from who it went off of. Or something happens elsewhere on the field that requires your attention when the ball goes out. I know I could always guess at possession but I'd rather use all the information available to me to get the call correct. Isn't that what you all want, the correct call? Through my experience I have learned that your kids are honest. If you ask them an honest question and let them know you need their their help, they will give me the honest answer. The adults are the ones a referee cannot trust.

You should never have to ask. Just look at who is picking up the ball and who is going toward a defensive position. The players always know.

Just throwing this in (no pun intended)... not at the U6-U8 REC levels. Half of these kids have no clue what is going on.

not at the U8 - U10 academy or U11 and up select. Most of those kids learn quickly if the call isn't made right away they should pick up the ball and get ready to throw it in regardless. If it went out off them, let the ref figure it out.

FC Force tried to recruit boys and girls as they came of the indoor field. Tony Bily would talk to the kids without talking to the parents. This is against PSA rules. It is really against any rules for a stranger like this to talk to any child. PSA did suspend him for doing this after multiple warnings.

force - FC Force in about the saddest display of club soccer ever? Empty Re: FC Force in about the saddest display of club soccer ever?

These teams are in the 5th/6th Grade League where scores are kept and there is a playoff bracket. So U10-U12.

I have heard that FC Force has been kicked out of PSA. Tony Bily wasn't there and the coach for FC Force was Luis Moreno. His assistant which was probably a parent was the one who shoved the rec coach.

A police report was filed.

PSA refs no showed so dads stepped in to referee. The rec coach asked Luis to help him referee but Luis said he wasn't paid to do that and didn't know how.

You chose your own name and avatar, and you think a generic name used by lots of teams in multiple sports and cities is stupid. I guess we have different values and we are going to disagree.

Yes, generic is stupid imo and clearly from what is being said about fc force, it isn't just their name that lacks any real thought.
