1 - FCD Grubb - unstoppable freight train until proven otherwise, highly reliant on two DDs in the middle directing traffic
2 - DT South - made mince meat out of all teams this spring except for Grubb, forward and sweeper outstanding
3 - DT Higg - the great white shark, lurking off the reef in the shadows, chewing up boys teams, we shall see
4 - Solar Dynamo - playing the beautiful game great passing, may need a striker to finish all that great service in the box
5 - Solar Red Colvin (aka SRSA) - solid, relies a lot on one striker for too much
6T - Solar Gio - not proven against "gold" teams but the team continues to win and play well, fast wingers
6T - Sting Searles - probably needs a few more players to cement place
8 - FCD Renfro - play too many games (3+?) every weekend to be fresh, better than you think when they stop overtraining / overworking kids
9 - Fever Red - athletic and fast, always compete hard
10 - Polaris - Improvement obvious, but can they keep players while other teams try to pick them off
11 - Waco Blast - north south long ball team with speedy forward, will fade unless they change their style over the next year
12T - Defeeters - passing is getting better, but will they lose players or stay together these last few months
12T - Liverpool St John - not as bad as the spring season made them look, need a few confidence re-builder games
14 - TFC - currently a team on the rise, scoring more
15 - Solar East Barnes - big and physical, never an easy opponent
16 - TX Spirit North - big and physical, good attitude, hustle
17 - Sting Royal - don't deserve a higher slot because too many players from Sting Searles keep propping them up
18 - Sting Dunstan - lost a little ground but good coaching
19 - Saints - got some speed and a scrappy can do attitude
20T - Solar Stark - team with momentum, pass well, score goals, need fulltime GK to move into D1 contention
20T - DT Powell - Good team, always first to every 50/50 ball, they hustle
22 - Solar Jones
23 - Dynasty
24 - Liverpool Thompson
25 - Sting Parker

FBR is updated, just haven't had any time this week to get it published.

I should be able to get FBR and, if enough human pollsters weigh in, a BCS published around Tues/Wed of next week.

Java,

Any decent team with talent will be vulnerable to girls getting picked off. Why does it seem the talk always revolves around Polaris? Most teams in that 6-10 range are especially vulnerable. Is there a history there with Polaris losing players are is it the proximity to DT South?

1-5 unanimous
6: Lot of love for Gio on here of late, still don't see a number 6 spot when they have not really played any of the top 10 other than Renfro and lost to TFC at number 11. They are getting better, move the ball well, and now have a scorer, plus defense looks ok against non-top 10 teams.
6: Searls is good but too many unknowns, which team, etc. If they cement their top players on a team they will stay in this range.
8: Renfro looking pretty good but not sure they deserve 8 spot just yet, kudos for playing extra TGPL games against upper competition.
9: Polaris looking stronger but need to show up for every game and find player to control center of the field, defense tough, speed up top, just need midfield to drive their game. Lots of rumors of defection but parental group looks pretty tight from what I have seen.
10: Fever, struggling of late but still really good, easily in the top 10 mix going forward.

I think there are several reasons but the primary "sales speech" by big clubs like the Texans. FCD, Solar, or Sting is that a small club with one team in an age bracket will eventually run into ugly personnel problems because two or more kids are likely to leave. I think there were already rumors that the Texans coach was sniffing around last fall. But, the truth is, sniffing around or not, stuff happens and the roster always does change. People change jobs, relocate. Some kids decide volleyball or basketball is their thing when they get on the middle school team. Kids get hurt and don't want to come back. Parents don't want to pay nearly $3K if their kid is riding the pine on the bench. Suddenly you find you only 12 or 13 players going into year two or year three of Lake Highlands.

Big clubs "sell" parents on the aspect that a big club usually has multiple teams and can attract good replacement players for the inevitable turnover, while small clubs with one team in an age division could have trouble making 14 players needed to play in most top leagues. I think any club with only one team at an age is a target for this sales story. Polaris just happens to be the best one in the top 10 that as the prey for big clubs role this year. If you look at the top 20, Defeeters would also fit, but they have the "we are an ECNL club" with a "long and distinguished history" to fall back on. Saints might be a target for big club predators too.

IN MY OPINION, any team that plays hard and stays up in Lake Highlands D1 or D2 will have plenty of kids to recruit from D3, Plano, and Arlington in the future when Allison and Brianna decide to play volleyball. Parents in Plano paying the $3K a year would rather move to Lake Highlands and pay $3K a year there. All the team needs to do is stay active networking all year. So, I think the big club sales story has a lot of BS to it. But most people perceive the small team as risky and some will let that fear color their decisions. I personally hope Polaris, Saints, and the rest stay together and enjoy the ride with far less politics than you find in the big clubs. If you are at a small one team deal and ranked lower than #40 right now, you are probably in trouble team longevity-wise and should look around asap. This is just my opinion, so no hate mail please.

Bwgophers - please tell me you don't factor these into your rankings. Is the criteria: what I hope/believe my dd's team should be ranked if all was right with the world?

Too quiet today - thought I'd stir it up a bit.

1. Higg. Beat Grubb last time they played.
2. Grubb. I think they can beat Higg, but has to prove it.
3. SRSA. Think they will hit their stride Soon.
4. South. Solid Team.
5. Dynamo. Plays lights out one week, then,well, you know.
6. Sting. Should get better with Q.
7. Fever. Needs to regroup, to the old fever.
8. Renfro. Lots of good girls. Good defense.
9. Polaris. Has size, and heart.
10. Liverpool Rangel. Played pretty tough in D1 this spring.

FBR is strictly a mathematical formula. I've published the full formula recently on bobmac15's website http://www.ntxsoccer.net/rankings.aspx

I'll treat the human rankings the same that we did for the '01's. Anyone who posts a ranking going out to at least 25 teams will be included. Assign the #1 team in each persons rankings 25 pts, #2 team 24 pts, and so on down the line. Total all of the points up to get the final consolidated human poll.

As far as "BCS", for now, I'll just do a 50/50 combo of FBR and the consolidated Human Poll. If soccer.stats.05 gets his SRS model dialed in, I can include that as well, doing a 40/30/30 split between Human Poll, FBR, and SRS. That is what we did for the '01's with Human Poll, FBR, and PowerRankings.

DT Fort Worth is rank way too high. They have never played the top ten, and IMOP they would't fair well if they did.

Don't really follow the 02's but a friends team played DT Higg in a
tournament that I attended and got pummeled. Several posters do not
have them ranked. I would think that was an oversight or am
I missing something? They seem as though they'd be like a Top 5 for sure.

Yes Higg would be in the top 3. Just wait until Qualifying they will make a huge statement.

Higg for sure top 3, IMO 6-10 is interchangeable right now, Fever better than Renfro/GIO/Polaris (although they play Polaris this weekend, should be interesting) so should be at 6, Renfro/Polaris 7 or 8 and Gio 9 until they play top teams. In the end really does not matter, top 10 teams will have clear path through QT and into D1.
