When a player leaves with unpaid dues or just does not fulfill their payment obligations the club forces the coach to pay the remaining balance. You are not obligated in any way to pitch in, however, if all the players and parents really like the coach it is something to consider doing. Or organize one of the dreaded fundraisers to help him. Many coaches have quit clubs and gone elsewhere over this very subject.

Went through this very scenario a couple of years ago with my DD. Coach quit and moved to Colorado. Believe it or not the Colorado classic league would not give us our d2 bye so we stayed in Dallas and got a new coach.
