Re: Coaches should care..
However, remember coaches have things going on in their lives too, jobs, marriages, divorces, ex's, sick children/family, car accidents, the list goes on and on. All the same things you and I have that would make us forget to do things, important but not right in front of our faces. Now I am not saying that a phone call takes more than a minute of their time but I am saying think about if something major is happening in his/her life that you are not aware of.
Please dont jump my case for suggesting that you dont know everything about your coaches life! Remember, I agreed with you in the first place, the coach should have checked on her, its the right thing to do!

Just heard from parent that their D.D. got hurt and coach didn't once call or ask about well being of the kid. Just sad, that a top club coach would represent their club like that...so watch what you get into before signing...GOOD LUCK!!
So what do you suggest parents do before signing to assure themselves that the "coach cares"?
In my opinion this has nothing to do with representing their club. If a coach doesn't call to check up on an injured player, what is the reflection on the club? That's a bit of a stretch, unless its your feeling the coaches have been instructed not to.
You're right, its human nature to care, and I think most do. That said, my dd's on a team to get the coaching she needs. It would be great if he/she is organized and thoughtful enough to call if she were injured and they certainly should.
But if they don't, it doesn't necessarily mean they don't care. As justsayin02 has mentioned, it could be that they simply have a lot on their plate.
Of all the things I'd worry about in getting a coach, making sure he calls if she's injured is pretty far down the list.

If your coach didn't do this, you should be aware of what you are getting into before signing.
