Faith, Family, and Friendship
This is an updated post. We receive a lot of great responses. In addition to our committed players last season, we picked at least 4 upper D1 players. We will field a quality team that can compete. Come check us out. We have 1-2 spots available.
Location: Open practice will be held at Liberty Christian School Grass field (North side of complex) 1301 S US Highway 377 Argyle, TX 76226 Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 pm to 8:00pm
Also, we are preparing our private practice field with a focus on family participation and just wholesome fun. Practices after open dates will be held at a private regulation size athletic field( with lights) just north of Lewisville, Flower Mound, and just west of Lantana-2 miles) Bartonville, Texas, with a small private lake (bring fishing poles for family members) and other facilities for the family. Yes it is competitive soccer by keeping the main thing the main thing. Faith, Family, and Friendship is the key to a successful life. These are the primary motivations. Soccer is a means by which this is taught. Tina Brewer is the team manager and Coach Wright Brewer is the assistant Coach. Coach Val Lunday has over 12 years coaching just girls’ soccer. Coaching girl soccer is a specialty (no doubt). There is a big difference in styles (boys vs. girls). I know, I am a head coach of a 21+ boy football team and it is a pleasure learning from Coach Val the differences that motivate girls to reach their potential. We have twin girls on the team. Tina and I are just blessed to have Coach Val as the head coach. This is what Coach Val describes as the team’s coaching philosophy: Go to http://libertygirls99.shutterfly.com
Also Coach Val puts an emphasis on Team Chemistry. Read what he says about this. Go to http://libertygirls99.shutterfly.com
Coach Val says, “This is a cohesive group with NO infighting, back stabbing or bickering. While a healthy competitiveness is encouraged among the players in-house, the focus is to better one another for the effort against the opponents, as well as help each individual player be the best athlete she can be for her future in the game. We'd sooner look at taking a player who gets along well with the group having a team mindset and playing at a comparable level, rather than taking a superstar who might tend to cause division among the group by thinking it's all about her. Good team chemistry is priceless”.
As a former football player in the top Division of the sport, this style is different among male sports. You drop in an outstanding male athlete in the middle of boys or young men, and then watch the group come together praising that athlete’s prowess. Most girl athletes respond differently. It’s all about fitting in, i.e., jelling as a team. The social element (chemistry) becomes the primary focus. Wins come with unity and comparable level of value. Working together as a cohesive team that is train with skills and knowledge plus team chemistry is the ingredients of future champions, whether in soccer, school, work force or in marriage. With a sound foundation coupled with spiritual depth, these things will take these girls into a happy and fulfilled life.
Yes as a father, this is very important to me. Yes winning championships is important, but it’s really about Faith, Family and Friendships.
