What's the over/under on parent arguments on the sidelines the next three weekends?

My goal is not not yell "Make a Run", " Faster", "Shoot", "You should have been there" at all the next two/three weekends.

I will also not scream "Offsides" "That was a foul" and "Our Ball"

What???!!?? How is my DD supposed to know when to kick it and run faster if I'm not telling her?

this is not fair! that's the fun part-sitting comfortably under a shady tent with an ice cold drink yelling at my kids to run harder in 100 degree heat. take that away and what do i have zippo, zilch!

Agreed! Why else would we pay all that money to sit on the sidelines of a windy, hot soccer field every weekend?

whats a handball? i dont ever recall reading in the rules a "handball"? it's not a foul everytime if the ball touches someone's hand/arm.

As the wife of a ref, I don't know how many times I have listened to the "its handling" or its called "kicks from mark" explanations. Yeah yeah honey, when I'm watching you ref you are a genius. However, when I am watching my dd play soccer, you and all your referee buddies are blind, biased, and I don't know what else.

I would love to promise that I will keep my mouth shut, too. But I know myself too well...why set myself up for disappointment? I will promise not to get angry when the opposing team parents do exactly the same thing. I will be thrilled if we can get through this without parents being ugly to other parents.

hah hah hah. Refs dont care who win the game, they are unbiased, even when biased parents watching their dd play soccer(aka you) and yelling at them, even when the refs are 10 yards away from the play compared to you loudmouths yelling "are you blind ref?!?", from a safe distance of 30-40 yards away. I guess you'll only learn to be quiet when you get the coach thrown out of the game because of you, because technically, the ref cant throw parents out, the coach is responsible for them.

Quite aware of the handling rule and refs can eject spectators. It is quite simple. If the spectator refuses to leave the ref invokes his right to refuse to continue the match until the person leaves the venue.

Just being a little funny. My husband has had to dismiss a few coaches and even a spectator or two. I was just commenting on the fact that as a refs wife I know referees make good, honest calls but as a soccer parents my emotions still get the best of me sometimes. My sweet husband usually keeps me in line since he brings his fair ref point of view to our dd's games as well. I just wasn't blessed with objectivity.

My apologies then. It's just some people don't understand how hard being a referee actually is, I wouldn't know because I'm not a ref, but I do know quite a few high school kids who are and they are fresh meat for the parents and coaches.

Oh yeah, the one thing that my husband and I hate to see is the way the young refs are treated by rec parents. Kids that can barely drive being driven to tears by parents who don't even understand the game is unfortunately a common site. Too many kiddos give up cause folks berate them, and the young ones aren't confident enough to throw someone out of a game.

That type of thing should never be tolerated by association officials. I have field marshalled rec for the last 12 years . Any adult that addreeses minor referees loudly from the sidelines is warned once and then tossed. If they refuse to leave then the police are called (only had to do that once). If they continue to act an ass from the parking lot then the police are called (only once again). If your field marshalls or admins do not do this then it should be addressed at a board meeting. Too many good young refs quit because the associations do not stand up for them. It is all about the kids and these refs are kids too.
