Liverpool Owen 1
Good job girls. Very well played. There were alot of good teams in the tournament this weekend. It was a battle just dealing with the heat. Next weekend is supposed to be high in the 70's...it's a week to late in my opinion. I was told 602 teams total in all age brackets. Thats awesome.

Re: Plano Labor Day Tournament 04's
As far as the other Semi-final, The LP Owen team has some talented players, especially the one that scored several of their goals. The Paisley team was also impressive, a new group just put together and making it to the Semifinals Coach Tahlon Drake is doing an outstanding job with this group. Expect them to gel and improve over the fall.
In the gold division, Lady Aztecs looked sharp, very skilled players. LP Keegan 04 (Drake) looked really good as well. The Tulsa team has strong defense and their midfield gets back and supports defense very well, their goalie is outstanding as well. DT Scott has a really strong team, their passing and ball movement is impressive and their game vs Keegan was a fun game to watch on the bigger fields at High Point.
I'm sure I could go on...

This is note for you Tulsa academys, during his speech for second place he commented how Tulsa has no competion that he had to travel all the way to Texas for some real competition. I am not saying there is no competition in Tulsa because I am sure there is but this guy is disrespecting Tulsa soccer for you all.

I think you are talking about Solar Gold's outside mids, not the forwards. They are quick and good shots. The Sting defense did manage to shut them down. It was still a good game and we look forward to rematch in the future.

I would not let this guy come back. I don't care who the guy is I was very surprise the ref took so much heat from the guy. If anyone has a video of the championship I recommend you post a clip of this guy.

I wasn't at the game, nor do I have a 2004 DD that plays on this team -- but I will address his comment. The reality is that Tulsa generally has 1-2 top level teams in any age bracket, and in truth it is hard to find competition. My DD played on a 2003 team that would beat the other Oklahoma teams by 5-10 goals. When we came to Dallas though, we got tough games across the board. It's just a reality. I would guess he was paying tribute to the teams down there more than knocking the ones here. It's a feat for a team that age to compete with the top teams down there. If we had 8-10 teams the caliber of the top 8-10 in N. Dallas (in any age), our teams would be more successful when they travel. As for his behavior, I have traveled enough to N. Dallas to know that you probably shouldn't throw stones. I've seen Kat Webb spitting venom at 8 year olds like no coach I have ever seen. I've seen SRSA parents crowding the sideline hurling insults at players, refs, coaches, and anyone else that happened to come into their line of sight during a tight game. There is a fine line between passionate and crazy -- and I've seen way too many parents and coaches cross that line (myself included). Let's be careful singling out a single coach on a single team in a single city.

I am a parent from the crazy Okie team mentioned above. It is unfortunate we made a poor impression on FC Soccer 1. If you are a supporter of the Lady Aztecs please know we thought you had a great group of girls on the field. As for Shan and/or our other coach, I agree with James that it is tough to single-out a coach especially when you might have misunderstood his intensions. I feel very confident telling you he was complimenting not only the Lady Aztecs, but all the teams we played this weekend during his talk under the pavilion. We do come to NTX to find competition for our girls. I believe I know which 03 team is referenced above and they are in the same boat. As I said above it is unfortunate we made a poor impression. If it makes you feel any better we are fairly disliked by most of the 04G Oklahoma teams already.

Of course if you really want to be liked, you could follow Obama's advice, and spread out your best players amongst the other teams in your league, allowing everyone to have a chance to win... you could also not keep score and give everybody a participation trophy for showing up..

I commented on this coach for the fact he was there and his attitude was in most of his close games. I am sure many saw this.

Re: Plano Labor Day Tournament 04's
It was our first experience playing 9v9. I really do not agree with playnig at High Point with full regulation fields and goals. Those were some huge fields and the goals were adult size. There were 11v11 games being played on those fields. That makes a big difference for this age group.
The carpenter fields were more appropiate size.
SO my only complaint is the high point fields, other wise great tournament.

I'll respond and try to let this issue die. Again, realizing that my DD does not play for this team -- but I do know those girls and those parents to some degree (small soccer community in Tulsa)... I, as a parent, choose the environment that I feel is most appropriate for my DD. My comment about Webb wasn't to disparage her, but rather point out there are plenty of high strung coaches out there. I appreciate your concern for what you feel is best for your daughter, and I respect your right to choose a coach who meets your criteria. That being said, I seriously doubt any comment made by the coach was intentionally directed at your team, your coach, or your parents. I find it despicable that you would take to a public forum and try to throw a coach of another team under the bus because he doesn't meet your standards as a coach. Those girls parents are well aware of who they play for and they set those expectations as parents. My guess is they are proud of their girls and would uniformly defend their coach. I am pretty sure these girls, these parents, nor these coaches need to be held accountable by a random parent on an opposing team. Believe me when I tell you that your motives are much more in question than coach Kittermans at this point.
