But I get it...with the field shortage and the 03s needing the big fields yet being small man on the totem poll and of course there's the price difference between U10 and those older (select teams)....which has to go into the tournament committee's decision process

Actually, we chose to leave out divisions where AFC does not have a team.

Re: 2012 AFC adidas Fall Challenge, Nov 8-11
We are interested in entering, but now are being hyper critical about tournaments allowing too many teams to play up. Last tournament we were in we had 2 teams playing up in our bracket, 13-0 and 8-0 we won. It is not good for the teams playing if the team is not good enough. I suggest that some regulations be put on this.... maybe proof that they are a top team in there current league... etc. We do no want to do this againcoachdom23 wrote:2012 AFC adidas Fall Challenge

Do you think any team entering should be allowed to play up, or should they have a proven track record of being a top team in their current league?SolarPower00 wrote:I totally agree with the rule...I'm just disappointed the 03s are left out.

In the past, I have only allowed Classic-level teams to play up. Rarely has it been an issue. I think I had a couple of teams (last Nov or last May tournament) play up and make the Finals.

There are a couple other tournaments around the same timeframe, some of which cost less. For example, the Xara tournament is over $100 less per team at the higher age groups. We haven't played in an Aces tournament before. What differences or advantages? How is the academy level competition?
Thanks

I have posted on the forums a tournament teams list in each of the specific age groups. If you do not see a teams list in a specific age group, then either we are not able to offer that age group, or there are not currently at least 3 teams committed to it.
I am not going to compare and contrast the tournaments on the forums. I live in Denton and was involved, in the past, with Kick It Kodi. It benefits a GREAT cause. I work for GLASA in various capacities and used to run all GLASA tournaments, including the previous XARA (which was my last GLASA tournament).
Although my bb no longer plays for AFC, I have stayed on as Tournament Director, because we put on two good tournaments per year. The last two were played in Lewisville and had over 200 teams each. I am not saying our tournaments are better than any other tournaments and I know that there are other choices out there.
AFC Tournaments offer:
- Teams lists posted on the forums earlier than most NTSSA tournaments
- Full-length games (like league play)
- Referees assigned by the assignor for the LHGCL
- Thursday and Friday night play for local teams to try and keep players from playing three games on a Saturday and to help with conflicts of coaches with more than one team
- Tournament Director seeks seeding assistance from Academy coaches before seeding Academy divisions
- Easy Check-in
- Prompt response to emails and phone calls to the Tournament Director
Please check the teams list in your age group. We hope you play with us, but know you have to do what is right for your team with regards to registration fee and travel. If you have additional questions, feel free to send me a private message through the forum or email me at 1221dom@gmail.com
