Experiences with RASE Empty Experiences with RASE

Post by Anarchy 17/09/12, 09:35 am

What are some of your experiences with Liverpool’s RASE program?
I have seen some Liverpool teams listed as RASE 04 or 05, so do they play games with this group as well?
What are the benefits over the free sessions compared to RASE sessions?
Why are we being invited to an elite group and then asked to pay $110 to participate?

I know I could ask the Director or Coaches, but looking for advice from some parents that have had their children participate in the program.

Thanks

The main way to get invited to play on a RASE team is to participate in the RASE program. My son did it last year. He enjoyed it, but we take other private skills training and for him it wasn't worth the $$ or drive to Plano (we are on west side). Last spring they had a RASE session on the west side, he wasn't impressed. We went select this year, so no opportunity for a RASE team or tournament play for us, which was the reason we did it in the first place. We were a little disappointed they didn't at least do a tournament team for the 02 RASE group, but it was just starting out.

My DD is an 05 and has done RASE in the past and will do it again starting this Friday. Here is what we like about it.

1. All drills (e.g. 1v1, 2v3, etc.) are a challenge since every player invited is almost always evenly skilled and passionate about playing so no single player ever dominates.
2. There is a detailed plan for what the kids will learn over the different sessions and each session builds on the previous.
3. The coach to kid ratio is good so each player gets the help they need
4. The focus on increasing bipedal ability (ability to use both feet) is strong... this is important since many kids (mine included) shy away from using their non preferred foot.
5. This upcoming RASE session will also focus on how hold team shape and to defend as a team which I'm really excited about

With this said, item #1 is really the thing I love best about these RASE sessions... is this the only place you get this? Probably not. But we like it for whatever that's worth.
