That is some really good and positive player development going on right there for a bunch of 7 year olds! The saddest part was my daughter heard this too and remarked on it...

Yuck. I have heard some pretty intense yelling (at times screaming) on other fields from some coaches. Luckily every team my DD has played against has had very controlled coaches so she hasn't had to listen to this sort of nonsense. I just don't understand why some parents put up with a coach that constantly screams at their players.

For entertainment sake, what was her remark? Mine would have said something like this: "Dad, did you hear that coach, doesn't he/she realize that doesn't motivate kids?"

My DD is a major processor... she's always thinking (to a fault sometimes) so if a coach yelled this at her she'd probably ponder... "Hmmm... I wonder if I could I beat 'Mana in a race? I'm going to ask her to race me at Sunday dinner. Yeah, I can't wait. I'm going to beat 'Mana!"

Let's all take the comment in stride...probably wasn't meant the way anyone is taking it. Also, unless your daughters play for the coach, I am not sure you can comment on the positivity of the coach. The coach of the team my daughter this weekend continuously yelled horrible things to girls, laying blame on the goalie for goals, and snatching the ball out of opur teams hands...
Just saying...don't judge until you know for sure. BTW - Anyone check out LA's record this season???

Re: 05 Girls CFBAL Week 9
It was loud enough that ALL could hear. For a 7 year old to note this in the middle of a match says all that needs to be said methinks. I am all about positive instruction...When the yelling becomes incindiary or NOT soccer instruction and insulting, then a line is probably being crossed. Not sure how that is being contextually misconstrued. Maybe she truly has a former Olympian Grandma and this is a very POSITIVE thing. riiiiiight LOL

from what I hear on a weakly basis being yelled across the field by coaches for all to hear, I would be suprised at the games you have attended. This was, by far, a mild comment. Also, screams of judgment on her coaching style. Obviously you don't play for her so not sure you should publicly call out a coach you don't know. I realize lots of parents find the forum a place to do this, but lets be bigger than that. Coaching styles vary; maybe check her team's roster (for changes if any) and her team's status...that should give you an idea of the kind of coach she really is.

LA have indeed had one heck of a season! Zero goals conceded. Wow! They are VERY well coached and the LA girls play the game the right way. They are fun to watch.
I heard, at the start of the season, the league was going to match the two top teams back up again in the final game of the season... so hopefully that happens. LA beat our RASE 05 girls straight up and I know our girls would love the opportunity to play them again.
Does anyone know if this is still the plan? Will there be one more LA vs. RASE 05 match-up?

Either way, it has been a great season and I think all the teams and players have improved over the season from their participation in a league with generally balanced competition. The spring should be even better as a few teams will certainly move up or down further improving the matchups in each division!

Yeah, it was an amazing league. One opportunity for improvement is field 1... that sloping drop in the far corner is wicked and the fields should really be leveled or all fields moved towards the school a bit. I also think the fields are too small - but some disagree with me on that. I guess when the girls go 9v9 the fields will be bigger no matter what.

LA is an AMAZING team and for the record I am NOT referring to anyone on that staff...those little girls play really pretty soccer and are fun to watch indeed.

And now this has become ridiculous and accusatory. Names were not said or assumed, the subject manner was commented on.

Maybe if you had been there to HEAR the syntax of the comment then you might understand the presentaion of said comment was all that is needed to make a determination of it's intent...of course, you may have been there. heck, it could be your little sweetie's coach for all I know. Either way, one comment does not a bnody of work make...but that was not the right one to be making of this I am certain! :-)
