"Fair" or "No Fair" ? - PYSA Empty "Fair" or "No Fair" ? - PYSA

Post by 10sDad 09/11/12, 03:59 pm

Team A has 2 subs, but both are in casts - but still manage to get the #1 seed for post season. Team B is the #3 seed, and has 5 subs all healthy.

5 of Team B's club players have a club conflict for this weekend's rec championship game. Team A has a player that cannot play during the coming weeknights, thus making them short due to injured subs.

PYSA says: We are rescheduling the game to Tuesday night because it wouldn't be fair to force Team B to have to play without their club players. Team A is just going to have to play short.

If I coached Team A, I would not be happy. I thought that academy guidelines of NTSSA said something about Rec team being the player's primary commitment. But maybe I am wrong about that.

If it can't be changed, Team A can look at it as, this will be a more meaningful accomplishment after winning.

The league should have a written reschedule policy. They should also have board to complain to. Find it and atart. The following is from PYSA rules.

I.
For the purpose of this rule, all players participating in a Soccer Academy who are also registered with an NTSSA Member youth association recreational or recreational plus team shall, in the event of a conflict, consider the NTSSA recreational team or recreational plus team to be their primary team and the Soccer Academy as a secondary commitment.

This alone should have disallowed a reschedule.

Nicely played, 2Cents! These organizations never cease to amaze me. They have their own protocol in place (as listed above) and then fail to follow it.

I've witnessed such unbelieveably poor management and decision-making at PSA this past season that I am very seriously considering taking both of my teams to another venue (along with quite a few other coaches). PYSA is an option... but not if they are making up the rules as they go like PSA. It's ridiculous. The idea of rec soccer should be to cater to rec players and their parents. Is that such a hard concept. I would very much appreciate a follow up from the original poster on how this plays out. Life is not fair, but kids' soccer should be!

The op didn't say he wanted a forfeit. No need for a forfeit. Just show up and play the Rec game with the team you signed up for, as the NTSSA rules indicate.

And only a classless parent would start a post using a wordsthat most boys left a on the playground at 5th grade when they first learned to cuss. Well done.

The OP is protesting PYSA not following its own WRITTEN rules. The opposing team has enough to play. I could maybe - just maybe - understand if the opposing team were going to have to forfeit because half the team was going on a campout. But an academy event causing an issue in a rec league? What a joke. The girls signed up to play on the rec team and are now in the playoffs. They can skip or reschedule just another meaningless SDL or TPGL game. And they have enough to play anyway, so why is it even an issue? Show up to play with the 11 that can make the game and demonstrate to the team the concept of commitment.

Poor form by PYSA.

Silent Parent should perhaps remain just that: Silent. But you should probably consider changing your screenname to Illiterate Parent. READ the original post, moron. There was no danger of a forfeit. Both teams have enough to play in the initially scheduled game. No one discusses a win by forfeit except you. Quit typing and pay attention.

Oh xara, you never fail to amuse. I imagine this is the only human contact you get so maybe your posts can be forgiven for their constant sourness. It is a championship, having been a rec coach, I always rescheduled if the opposing coach had a problem. The important thing was to let kids participate and play. Not hide behind a rule to gain an advantage. I would also assume the op has academy kids too but failed to mention that.

1. Rec Scheduler rules generally are if you have enough to field a team ( 7 players) then no reschedule unless it is a school function or extenuating factors. This meets neither.
2. If an association chooses to consider it extenuating circumstances and reschedule outside the rules then the time , place and date is must be offered to both teams for approval to make sure BOTH teams can field the full squad. If the teams can not agree then the original schedule stands.

No one said they wanted or that they would forfeit

SP let me share one of my favorite nuggets with you. Sometimes it is better to remain silent and let other assume you are ignorant than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

"Fair" or "No Fair" ? - PYSA Empty Re: "Fair" or "No Fair" ? - PYSA

Post by 10sDad 10/11/12, 10:14 am

OP here - sounds like there is insinuation that information was left out. Here are some more details...

I am NOT the coach of team A.

Plano Parks close the fields after this weekend - PYSA lobbied for and received a waiver to play on the closed fields from Plano Parks - first time that they have gone to those lengths to reschedule a game according to PYSA.

Our team will be playing whatever day they say, even if we have to play short. We are not requesting a win by forfeit - nor would we. It's an empty way to win a championship game.

Team B had enough rostered, healthy players to field a full team with no subs at the originally scheduled time, as did team A. Team A will be short for the rescheduled time. Yet, in the interest of "fairness", the game was rescheduled by PYSA. Yes, its unfortunate that a few of Team B's stud players cannot make the original scheduled time due to an academy conflict, and it gives Team A an advantage, but that's the risk you take when playing multiple leagues. There are players on Team A that play in academy as well.

There just seems to be every effort made to make sure that team B has every concievable opportunity to win this game. Going so far as to making team A play short so that team B's best players can make it, even though there were enough players for a full strength game at the original time. Team A's top scorer is the one with the conflict, and at last word, her family is trying desperately to figure out a way to make it to the game.

So...@SilentParent..is there something I left out? "I know players from this team"..really? and just what is missing from the story as you insinuate? About the only other detail I have failed to mention is that Team A was forced by PYSA to play up into your division, and not allowed to contend for the championship in their own age group.

When you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging. You're out of your league, SP. You can't win this one. The facts defy every one of your assertions, and your choice in terminology proves you to be intellectually inferior to the Xara. Don't beat yourself up; I already have. I'll just add another notch to my whipping board with your name on it. It won't be the last time. Now, I'll let you have the last word because it would be just too easy otherwise.
