Right. Because only racism could cause someone to think that the crumbling old Cotton Bowl is an inferior venue to a new stadium that is home to an MLS team (with a pitch to match).

go99 wrote:yes as for "you". Now I did miss this years OU/TEX game but I am sure if the crumbling, dilapidated stadium can handle than game it can survive the DC. And if the stadium is in that bad of shape you should probably you councilman as they spent quite a bit of your tax money to fix it up. Here we love shiny new things some of the foreign teams might enjoy playing in a stadium with history. Here is one legitimate problem. Before you could see games on the smaller fields and then walk over to the stadium. That will no longer be possible. I for one am excited about the opportunity this brings to enhance the DC. Now its all down to execution. Oh and my appologies, racism and classicm no longer exits in America.
yawn, go to the fair once and see the miserable experience that is and you think for a small soccer tournament that it will be better?bad part of town, high crime and crummy stadium. terrible idea, . but some have to play the race card regardless of the facts....

go99 wrote:oh and by new you mean 7 yrs old stadium that was built to be cost effective not state of the art as say the sporting KC stadium. Not the 80 yr history and $50+ million of dilapidation (57 mil of your taxpayer money to update). Maybe the kids will think wow I am in the same stadium that world cup games were in? Some of the great games in american sport have been played on these grounds and now I will too. The venue change is a big opportunity for the Dallas cup and the city of Dallas.

I have been there and enjoyed the fair and also the ou/tex game. The DART was great and when I drove the in and out was better than FCD. It's not an area I would want to live in but I am also no so scared I wouldn't take my kids to see a game. Like you said, "bad part of town". And seems like we assume the stadium is still crummy, $57 mil seems like alot of money for no improvement.

totalsoccer wrote:It is a good idea, but I don't think the Dallas cup can pull the capacity of a World Cup games or a Texas Oklahoma game. Frisco park gave you the opportunity to see multiple games at all the levels.
Now here is some good sense. You can take a starard crowd at an FCD game and put it at fair park and it will look like no one is there. They risk the stadium dwarfing the event itself. Not being abole to see the multiple games will be a major bummer and scheduling will need to be changed to make sure everyone from the other games has time to make the "event" games.
if everyone would look past the "bad part of town" stuff maybe they could see there is potential to do something way bigger than what was done before.

a bunch of not know alot about anything in this thread. tx/ou game is played in the Cotton Bowl still. as is Grambling/Prairie View.
the Cotton Bowl game is actually played in the Cowboys Stadium (it has its offices there too).
Fair Park area has just as many drugs as the suburbs, its just better hidden in the burbs.
i think it's very ironic that the City of Dallas is involved with Dallas Cup now but the majority of the games will not be played in Dallas. both Richland College and UTD are in Richardson right? so Dallas gets the benefit of what.....10 games total. Dallas Cup still gonna be based in Addison?

and our grasping at straws award goes to.........twotone!
yep the fairpark area is really just an oasis of peace and tranquility, with just a butt load of liquor stores and bailbondsmans thrown in. lmao
