OMG this soooo sucks. $9 just for the opportunity to play futsal. A big part of the reason soccer in America sucks. We have to make everything "official" and sanctioned so that we can charge more money for it. In the end the kids don't get better the cost just goes up

Isn't this similar to the $18 ID card for indoor we've all been paying for years?

Price of insurance brah... $25.00 per year from NTX paid from your dues to your local association.

The $15 I pay for indoor is more of a liability coverage and waiver paid to the facility not really to a Federation.

You don't complain about paying at Inwood, Spectrum, Blue Sky A,B, C or D, Stampede or any other official indoor facility. In order to be sanctioned through the USFF, not USSF or North Texas. It is the United States Futsal Ferderation, which is part of the USSF.

Sounds like you need to not eat out once a week and pay the lowest price of a card around, let you DD have a good time. You could also bring a sack lunch tomorrow and that would cover the card.

Yes this is the first time the city futsal league has required a player card!

$9 dollars is not bad for a beginning price but we know it will increase over time.

DD has been playing with City Futsal for almost two years now. Card has been required every season (it's good for one year) and has always been $9. Maybe, it's just that City Futsal is becoming more organized and maturing with each season that you just noticed?

afterall it will be santioned by the ussffda or whatever the hell it is. What exactly does the kid get from this sanction? How is the kids fun or development increased by this?

Now in the end you will have to bend over and take it if you want your kid to play and it is only $9 for now. But you can see the attitudes and understand why Texas is one of the most expensive places to play. But hey it's only $3k a year (plus another $1k in tournaments sanctions licenses etc)

But to all of those who STILL think having to buy a $9 playing card is outrageous, perhaps they should first check to see where the money goes. Personally, I don't know that much about the USFF. But I'm going to guess that they sanction many events through organization, advertising, sponsorship, etc. Nearly everything costs money, even when volunteers are involved. The most successful non-profit organizations run on the most capital. And the USFF is a lot bigger than LHGCL or ECNL. That requires funding.

oh and to be fair to city futsal this is no worse than the indoor card at the other indoor places.

The USFF is not a charitable organization it is a "non profit" created to capitalize and make money from a sport that was exploding in the US.

Are you really complaining about $9's? If you don't want to pay $9 then don't pay it. Its not mandatory that your kid has to play futsal. If you're here to complain about City Futsal then say it. Is that the only complaint you have about City Futsal or are you waiting for other people to jump in and start complaining about something else.

They're doing an excellent job for soccer in the Dallas metroplex. City Futsal is trying to bring something real to soccer for the kids. I love the pickup games they have to offer. Where else can you play pickup in the metroplex.

definitely not complaining about city futsal. And yes I am complaining about the fees. Soccer cost too much. It is a game that is supposed to be cheap to play. And it's not city futsals fault its ours. And no I will not be paying the $9 because I will not be playing there. Love the pick up futsal so I hope the card isn't need to play pick up otherwise I will just have to find another place to play pick up and yes there are other places.

There is some group around every corner in Soccer with their hands out asking for money. So although it is ONLY 9$ it is annoying and that goes along with the BS academy release I paid for so my daughter could play tournaments and other BS cards to play indoor.

I agree 100% with that. Home association releases to play in academy are an absolute racket.

I agree it's cynical to whine about $9 registration fee for futsal given we pay more for ID cards at other indoor facilities. I know when City Futsal leagues first started they charged $14 for registration and the USFF component of that was $9. I have no idea where the money goes or if city gets a cut, but if it helps them stay in business so be it (I have seen several businesses come and go out of IAD over the last couple years...rent must be steep).

However, USFF is not affiliated with US Soccer and best I can tell has diminished to not much more than a marketing umbrella org at this point. They tried to copyright the word "Futsal" and unsuccessfully sued US Soccer for using it. They have been around longer but the actual org associated with US Soccer (and FIFA) is US Youth Futsal.

At the end of the day the futsal alphabet soup and competing orgs don't matter much for our dds. I suspect City Futsal is growing rapidly because they have access to good facilities, good marketing, good officiating and they do a great job accommodating schedules of competitive players. Getting plugged in with NTX ODP probably didn't hurt either.

hmmmm, good point. One's man's "racket" is another man's "cartel". Guess it all depends on how you view the 9 bucks.

A "racket" implies an illegal activity. It also may imply unsavoury rather than strictly illegal behavior, but standing alone a racket refers to some illegal activity.

A cartel is generally a group of businesses which band together to further a common cause. A cartel may be morally offensive and/or engage in illegal activities, but standing alone, there is nothing defacto illegal about a cartel.
