Seeking advice for foot issue
Seeking advice for foot issue
My daughter is an 03 and has HUGE calluses on her great toes. She says the calluses hurt sometimes (but mostly late into games or after several games in a tourney, etc.). She has wide feet as well.
I am wondering if there are certain brands / types of shoes that might help with this? Any home treatment remedies? Or will she just always have "ugly soccer feet" (that's what she calls it) as long as she plays?

My daughter developed calluses from one particular pair of shoes she had. One of them actually tore off and was quite painful. You may want to check the fit of her shoes. She may have a little too much room in there causing excessive rubbing. We haven't had the same issues since she's switched styles.

Agree - you should try a different pair of shoes -- not necessarily a different brand.
My DD used to get severe blisters from Nike Mercurials, but not the Total90s or Tiempo Elites. The Adidas Copas were too wide for her, and most other Adidas models fit her foot uncomfortably. But the new Adidas Predators fit her like a glove. That is what she is wearing now and loves them.

Airwynn wrote:Don't know if this helps, but Adidas and Puma's run wider. Also using a scruffing stone once a week in the bath will help reduce the thickness of the calluses. (Don't try to remove the calluses all at once...a little each time ) A good foot cream will also help to soften the skin. Hope it gets better
+1
My DD likes the Addidas because they run a little wider. Like the previous poster said, soak in warm salt water for a while, then use the scuffing stone, lotion, and sleep with lotion on the feet with cotton socks.

If it gets too bad you might want to have a doctor check it out to see if she needs something else.

Good question! You really should have it checked out if you haven't already. Bunions can be very difficult and are caused by the same problem - shoes that don't fit.
