Kevin Hartman's Elite GK Camp

Kevin Hartman Shutout Goalkeeping is happy to announce an Elite Goalkeeping camp from January 4th to 6th from 9:00am to 2:00 each day. There will be sessions on goalkeeping psychology and sports nutrition during the elite camp, along with intense field training.

This camp is for goalkeepers that are only 12 years and older and for keepers that have been playing the position for years. There is a limit of 6 keepers, with the coach to student ratio being 3 to 1, as Coach Chris Seitz will be coaching on the field as well.

Saturday, January's 5th agenda is the following:

9:00 - 10:15 Day two’s first one hour and fifteen minute session will include a high level physical warm-up, high repetition catching, and diving.

10:30 - 11:15 - Goalkeeper Psychology I

11:30 - 12:15: Double Saves: The keeper should always attempt to deflect the ball over the end line or wide of the goal area, leaving their teammates with time to react to a ball coming from a position on the field with a smaller shooting angle. Unfortunately, this is not always as easily done as it is written. Therefore, if the keeper fails to deal effectively with the first shot on goal by the opposition, it’s crucial that the keeper recovers quickly into a position to save a second shot.

12:15 - 12:45 - Snack and drinks

1:00 - 2:00: Crosses and High Balls into the Goal Area: By intercepting balls that are kicked directly into the box it’s very possible to eliminate goal scoring threats before they fully materialize. Not only will forwards have fewer balls to get onto the end of, but defenders won’t be forced into awkward clearances that barely make it outside of the 18 yard box. By using proper footwork, jumping ability, and proper catching technique, goalkeepers have a distinct advantage against attacking players and even their teammates.
