I heard this game came down to PK's for DT to pull it off. Is this true? This is Sting Cuevas correct?

If Mike Leach, aka the Pirate pirat , was coaching the Polaris 04G's...he'd keep scoring until the bitter end, just like the current Polaris coach does.

There's a valuable lesson in there for some 9 year old to figure out. cyclops

Correct, penalty kicks on both ends. DT completely dominated most of the first half and the entire 2nd half on Sting's end with shot after shot on goal, but just couldn't find the back of the net. Sting's GK played great.

not sure which Sting team, which ever one is playing SDL Platinum.

No fault of polaris. Hopefully the rest of their games are more competative otherwise it can be a wasted season. They probably do need to move up a level. FYI the moving defenders up is probably not the best idea. You have then just put a person who is highly motivated to score up top. I prefer a pass count or even limiting them to 3 touches etc.

Defenders scoring...they have to touch and pass and shoot...why not utilize opportunities to build a versatile or more versatile player...remember, these teams at this age won't always look the same, some girls aspire to become scorers...so if one of the strikers leaves the team for whatever reason, that defender may be a prime candidate to fill the void.

unless the defender is not very good it doesn't usually keep the score down. If you want to give them touches great if you are aiming to keep the score down then not so much.

I'm with you, go99. Enforce combination passes, practice switching the play, and scoring off crosses if you insist on rubbing it in. I like the idea of an in-game practice. Unless of course you're having trouble defending kickoffs, then yes, score as many as you can to get more experience defending kickoffs clown

Where did the Polaris players come from prior to forming 2-3 months ago?
Honestly don't know where most came from. Mine came from another club.

I saw the 2nd half of this game and it was completely dominated by DT. Great passing and possession. DT could not find the back of the net with the sea of blue in the box.

2 quick points I would like to make on the Polaris v. Andro score...

1. This is where the "rankings" kind of come in...sure Polaris had an easy time with Andro...but would other teams as well? Is Andro in over their head, or is Polaris that good? More matches against other opponents will prove that out.

2. I don't blame Polaris for scoring. A coach in that situation will (and should) begin working on skills with bench players, defenders in scoring positions, passing/possession, etc. What I would like to see in these situations is a quick conversation between the coaches - essentially agreeing that the game is over...what does each team want to work on in game situations...how can the other coach help? Does the losing team need to work on spreading the field? Then perhaps the winning coach removes a midfielder...something like that...make it less about hurt feelings, and more about helping both teams develop in their weaknesses. The only ones keeping score are the parents.

Instanbul - Does this great guy at Mutiny who coaches there do that even if his own team does not stand a chance? I would love to attend some of his practice sessions Smile What age group?

The classy comment yelled to the ref. during the Sting East/Texas Spirit match on Saturday, "Mark it after she kicks it" DID NOT go unnoticed. You know who you are.

It looked to me that Andromeda are a really new team and are over their heads right now. Other teams have had similar results.

If they are mostly 05's then why are they playing up? So they get challenged to play at a higher level? Doesn't really make sense when they could be very competitive in a true age group league. Playing up is not for all teams.

Didn't they register for D3? I think they mixed D3 in with D2 so that may be why they are playing against better teams. But I wonder if they are one of those new teams that came out of rec and had a mixed group of ages (04s and 05s) and didn't want to release the older kids and play down in the 05s so opted to play up with their mixed age group and then got dumped into D2 since they didn't have enough D3 teams. That happened to our club when we brought our team to SDL, only we dropped the three 03 girls so we could play our predominantly 04 Girls group at the right level and entered at D3 last Spring (2012). Course, there were plenty of D3 teams a year ago as opposed to this season.

Was that you Pinkie?..... I doubt it, the person who said that does not have big enough(anatomical parts) to come on here and man up. I did not post that to as you put it, "Oooh, be harsh". I was just pointing out a remark made by someone to look big next to their peers and incite the other parents. Just calling it like I see it.
