Is this Texas Spirit '04 Clark?

I'm guessing so. I would think that Spirit North would have been shown as such. Don't think there are any other Spirit teams in SDL.

According to the FBR There's another TX Spirit (North) Red Khoury that plays in SDL D1 also but I'm guessing you're right. I assume it would be so noted if it was North.

Some good matchups here and a chance for some lower ranked teams to move up a bit.

Small tourney was already tough, but with addition of Spirit, ouch. Was hoping to play Piper again but, unless we both make it out of bracket play, it doesn't look like its going to happen.

Just FYI, according the the FBR...
LP Owen Started the season at 21. Now they are 13.
GSSC Thunder started at 12, now they are 11.
Pride East Was 13, now 9.
Sting Cuevas was 18, now 20.
Texas Spirit (if it's Clark) started at 5 and are still 5.

Don't know what the tiebreaker is, but Owen is actually tied for 12 on points with FCD Premier.

Excluding Spirit, I think all these teams are very similar in talent and could make for some exciting bracket play. Cuevas had a tough spring, but they were playing those Platinum teams. They'll be ready. I'd be curious where they would be ranked if they had entered D1 instead.

I'd have to give Spirit the overwhelming odds to win this, but there is the possibility they can be beat. Just wish we didn't have to play them in bracket play.

Why is Sting the only one playing 4 games?

I hadn't noticed that until now. Seems like the fair thing to do is to make everyone play everyone, then take top two into finals. Would've been five games for finalists, not unheard of for a normal weekend. I guess they take 3/4 of Stings points to figure who advances?

I agree. It seems simple enough to do a round robin and you could still have the top two teams meet in the championship. Do you suppose it's because they are the lowest ranked team in the tournament?

I don't think so, or at least I hope not. I think rankings are mostly for this forum's benefit. I'm guessing its scheduling obstacles. Scheduling 5 teams is hard. 6 or 4 would have been much easier.

Right now you have two games missing, Owen v Pride and Spirit v GSSC. When do you play them? If you play them on Sunday, then the finalist may have to play 3 games that day. Friday is difficult since it is not a holiday.

To make it official, it's not Spirit North, it's the "big" Spirit not the "little" Spirit..ha IMO, Spirit and GSSC are the top two in this deal..

I'll agree with you that Spirit is a favorite, but don't sleep on Owen. They're right in there with Thunder and Piper.

I happen to agree with you on this. Owen finished pretty strong. They are starting to figure some things out.

I'm still worried about Sting. With a record of 1-2-1 dating to last fall, history hasn't been kind to us. We did win the last one 1-0, but I'm curious to see how they have progressed since last season.

Owen played GSSC to a 1-1 tie this season. To my knowledge, it's their only match with the current rosters.

They played SDLP this season right? Any idea what their record is in that league?

I'm sure they probably beat Solar Armstrong, but I don't think they beat any of the other heavies. I did see they played Spirit Clark to a 0-2 score. Can any Sting parents elaborate?

I'm pretty sure Sting played DT Scott pretty close also. I think it was 2-1 or something like that. I also think all goals were scored off of free kicks. It's highly doubtful that any of these other teams speed will catch them off guard after their spring in SDLP. I'm interested to see how they do.

Speed kills. Especially at this level where there's such a big gap between some of the players.

I know this is a little off topic, but.....Kix better get in the mix here or Soccerdad is about to sneak up and get him on the last day. I'm not sure why he hasn't posted today, maybe the minutes on his "smart" Tracphone ran out last night. Whatever the case, it sure would be a shame to lose the top spot after all of the hard work and countless hours he put in this month chasing Go99. Come on buddy, we're all cheering for you to cross the finish line first. You are the inspirational story of April.

Crap, I only need 9 to overtake him! Maybe I can bring up the Dalglish sweeper to really get this thread going!

That might work. But I actually think she is on RASE now, at least that's what I heard from Go99. I could have misunderstood him, but I'm pretty sure that's what he was saying. So, if the Dalglish sweeper is on RASE now, that is for sure a hot button! Try it.

I actually have no idea who the Mythical Dalglish sweeper is. lol
