Re: Granbury Tournament
Hey Parents,
I just got off the phone with Mission Granbury who is organizing the donations for the tornado victims. I would love to help since we're going all going to be down there this weekend. The woman who I spoke with said they had a big need for individual wrapped snacks, diapers and wipes. I'm sure they need LOTS of stuff but she said that was most in demand. My husband and I would be happy to drop all the items off on Sunday. Also, I saw on the Granbury soccer website that there will be a red cross booth at the tournament accepting monetary donations. I wanted to pass this info along since we've got such a great group I know we can give Granbury some Triumph love!

Re: Granbury Tournament
On behalf of the Granbury Soccer Association, we would like to thank all of you for participating in the Lake Granbury Spring Classic. Our Community has been struggling to get through the initial hours of the tornado aftermath. In the wake of the disaster it is has become ever so clear how triumphant and strong our city really is. The volunteer efforts are incredible. In light of the circumstances the soccer association made the decision to go on with the tournament. We felt we could make a difference by bringing our true spirit to life. The decision to proceed was based on the fact that we felt we could help the recovery effort by making a difference. Many of you have called and asked how to help. The way you can help is to dig deep and contribute monetarily to the Red Cross donation station located at the city park pavilion. (cash, check made out to the American Red Cross, gift cards, visa cards, etc.)
Our community is in good spirits, our fields are tournament ready, and these kids need to take their mind off of tragedy and onto teamwork. Although the damage and loss of life weighs heavy on our hearts, it is a strong reminder that we should cherish every day; it also is a reminder that we have to teach our kids to persevere. Our soccer family and community as a whole are ready to show you that Granbury is an excellent place to live, visit, and play soccer.
Many of you were asked to give up your hotel rooms or were just told they were cancelling. We want to assure you that we would NEVER move forward with this tournament if we thought for one minute we would be taking away a room from someone in need. We have spoken with community leaders and can assure you that you are not taking up a room that should belong to a victim. Because of our tight knit community, the victims are well cared for either by our rescue organizations or with friends and family.
We are so excited to show you the spirit of our community! Come play soccer and help us pay tribute to the tornado victims of Granbury.
Sincerely,
Ivy Wilbourne
President
Granbury Soccer Association
Some of our TXL teams are playing as well and have some organized donations in work but to be honest the best way to help is to do exactly what the GSA president as requested and that is to donate money, gift cards and the likes thereof. I know most of us will be doing both.
Often there becomes an overdose of items that are not needed and lack of items needed.
