Liverpool 00 Girls Elite - trying to respond en masse to questions asked
Liverpool 00 Girls Elite - trying to respond en masse to questions asked
Obviously, my responses are less than objective (I try), here's what I know (hard to write what I don't know)!
- How often do you practice?
- We normally practice 2 times per week, occasionally, we practice 3 times
- What positions do you need?
- We aren't looking for specific positional players. Most of our girls move around the field
to get a better feel for the various viewpoints/skills/responsibilities of each position.
Some players are more comfortable in specific areas (thinking back to my son's U8 days where
every kid is a forward)
Bottom Line - if your daughter wants to learn to play, this is a good place for her.
- Have you lost a lot of players?
- we have three players leaving, all for various reasons. We wish them luck and know they will excel
in their new environment. Every year, we do hear about how our team is falling apart - I can
assure you that isn't the case, nor, has it ever been (last year, we were much stronger than
the year before, definitely didn't fall apart).
- Travel
- in the past, we have played in California. This year, we have several opportunities
to play against new/varied competition via different leagues we plan to play in as well
as Regional/National Championship series. Travel will likely be between Houston/Austin/Tulsa/OKC
as well as some games that will allow different locales/competion (i.e. last year, it was
North Carolina/Florida). The competition within these will be the top of the top (i.e. Legends,
Tophat...). Soccer aside, this is where lifelong memories start.
- Where do you practice?
- fortunately, we are able to use facilities that afford us indoor/outdoor/lighted fields.
We consider Blue Sky (Allen) as our home field, but we often practice
at Celebration Park (Allen) and Kerr (Allen). Occassionally, we practice
at Five Star (The Colony), Blue Sky (The Colony) and DYSP (formerly Andromeda)
- Our club is also getting fields provided at Russell Creek and Carpenter (Plano),
as all current LP locations
- My daughter isn't good enough to play on your team
- ask yourself if your daughter has improved in the last 2+ years, our players didn't show up playing
this way - they 'learned' it.
This is what practice/training is for - to learn/improve.
Depending on your goals/big picture you will indeed need to determine if this appeals to you.
Every child and parent's chemistry is different
I know, without soccer, my daughter would still love this team - off the pitch, she has had a blast.
I'd encourage everyone to speak with former players on our team - with the exception of me
(we aren't a scary bunch)
I've had one child who plays a lot, one who doesn't - both enjoy it
- I'm worried about college exposure for my daughter, what does LP offer?
- Obviously, this is uncharted territory for this club (the club is still a baby, the 98s
sophomores)
are getting a lot of interest from college coaches, throughout their different leagues,
this has been an opportunity for many coaches to observe and contact the 98 players/parents
- I know for our '98 team, the North Carolina coach sat with our coach during their game - with
player interest
- For U14, in my opinion, this shouldn't be the top concern, but, given everyone's ego -
it often is.
- LP has college programs in which coaches practice/drill players (older - there are rules on ages)
- Our team has been observed by college coaches, but, again - too young to really 'contact' legally
- If ECNL were an option for our club, I'm sure this wouldn't be a concern
(mind boggling to me personally), but I can assure you there has been interest expressed by colleges
I've enjoyed being a part of this group, meeting new people and enjoying the contacts we make through youth
sports is a great part of life. Let me know if you have any interest or further questions.
These are my personal opinions - so, I'm certain others have different experiences/observations.

You shouldn't even joke like that. We'll have to keep a defibrillator on hand for Androfan.

Where do most of your players reside? (okay, it was probably more like 'where are y'all from?):
- Primarily North Plano to McKinney, onesies and twosies (not certain on if those are really words or just baby clothing) from Lake Highlands, Lakewood, Flower Mound, Van Alstyne, Prosper. Basically, we almost have all four corners covered - probably not, understandably, the far Southwestern corner.
Keep the questions coming, gives me a reason to get on this forum as I tend to forget about it for 11 months out of the year. As this will be our U14 year, it will likely be nonexistent after July for 90% of the posters.

I guess CP did not disclose the entire truth in your conversation. You will need to find another mentor if he goes to solar.
