Re: Home School Teams
HSAA has been decent in prior years. It will be a bit watered down now that THESA has a team. If you follow the link above, scroll down the left hand side of the home page to "Archived Schedules" you can see who they have played over the years, and how they fared. They have a few LHGCL D-I/D-II again this year I believe, along with some other club experience for most of the varsity.tornado11 wrote:any idea on the strength of these teams...?JeffM wrote:Both Homeschool Teams tryouts are over, but they sill have some room

THESA is in it's first year, so it's really yet to be seen. You can see who they have scheduled so far if you follow the link above, scroll down the left, and go to the Girls Soccer Game-Practice Calendar. First game is 11/4, and then they get to be tested by Nolan the 8th. After that we should have a pretty good idea. So far as I know, there haven't been any scrimmages, or any scheduled prior to that, so nothing to act as any sort of yardstick. I know they have some club players, but I don't think they have as many in the LHGCL D-I/D-II category as HSAA.

Re: Home School Teams
I take it that they are full time University Model students? HSAA has a 50% rule, THESA seems to be a bit broader.Eagleeye wrote:I wish they allowed university model/homeschooled kids to participate.
HSAA's website has its definitions posted (Go to the upper left on their homepage, click "eligibility rules" and make sure to check the "Explanation of how HSAA interprets homeschooling" link.
THESAs seems a bit more flexible. Go to "Forms" on the left of their homepage, and then download the eligibilty rules (view doesn't work). They specifically state if the private school attended does not have sports you may be able to participate as a homeschooler.
Maybe you have investigated all of this, if not it would probably be worth contacting one or both organizations to be sure of the interpretations.

Eagle eye, I'd be interested in what you find out!

I helped start the program at HSAA and currently coach for them. I also do all the scheduling for the teams.
