Did the Albion keeper make a save? Or was it a miss by Beiber Fever? Also, more details about the game please.

Austin Labor Day Cup Empty Re: Austin Labor Day Cup

The game was very even. Lots of hard work. Not many scoring opportunities for either team. I would guess that Albion had 2 shots on goal and F E V E R, 5.
F E V E R had the best opportunity to score on a free kick maybe 30 yards out. The ball just sailed over the crossbar. Apparantly Albion had only lost 2 games in the past year and a half.

In shootouts, F E V E R S last shooter hit the cross bar and Albions 5th shooter made her shot. Feel terrible for our player but she is awesome and will learn from it and bounce back. Game over. Hate to win or lose in PK's but with the heat, going straight to PK's is wise.

It was fun playing teams from the South. Lonestar played the prettiest soccer out of any team we have ever played, including the teams in LH. Boy the could connect passes. Had us chasing all game long. Once they figure out how to get the ball into the final 1/3, that is going to be an unbelievable team. We scored about 10 minutes in and got the 1-0 win.

From the Albion perspective of the Albion v F E V E R game, I think it's fair to say F E V E R had the better of the possession battle. Not many shots by either team. As you likely know, in south Texas, this is our first season of 11v11, so we're still adjusting to the tactical nature of the bigger game and field. We were also missing a starting forward who has ligament damage in her foot. For what it's worth, our girls all thought F E V E R was their toughest opponent, and we played the same Lonestar team in the semis as well as Dallas Rush in bracket play (but I think we were a bit fortunate against Rush...our 2-0 win isn't indicative of the game itself). I don't know if F E V E R had some nice additions over the summer or what, but I'm not sure they belong in D2. Best of luck to all the Dallas teams this fall...hopefully we'll bring our team up for the Texans Fall Festival in November.

We too were missing a starting forward with a broken wrist. Makes that game even more equal. After playing you guys and Lonestar this past weekend, I think many of us parents believe both those teams are LH D1 quality. We finished 11th in D1 last year just missing getting to stay. We have 4 new players and a new coach. So far so good. That game was a hard fought battle. Congratulations and hopefully you guys do make it up to NTX for a tournament or two. Good luck to your girls.

Thanks. For what it's worth, it's not even close to true that our team lost only 2 games in the past year and a half. I think that's true as far as tournament play goes (which is subjective to a degree since strength of tournaments can vary greatly), but we played up an age group last year in the A bracket and definitely lost some games...and we're doing the same this season. It's the best way to expose our girls to bigger, faster teams....we don't have the depth of play in south Texas to get much out of playing our true age group at this age. Plus it allows them to play 11v11 this season (instead of 8v8 that the u12 division plays).
