Re: Ants on the field
My son showed up to ref and was sent home due to the ant invasion. To be honest the Frisco football league was playing football on the adjacent fields so I think they jumped the gun but who am I to say...bigtex wrote:I have a daughter that practices at Warren every week and have noticed significant ant issues for some time, but nothing that would impact practice too much (mostly just frustrates the parents). So I thought this post was just being humorous about the problem- nope it is true. Can’t imagine how bad it would have to be out there now- given how bad it already was.

Looks like they were wise in being cautious until the ant problem can be controlled.

Re: Ants on the field
Sad story, but in all fairness shouldn't the family have had an EpiPen on hand since he was allergic to the ants?fhjmom wrote:Texas football player dies after being stung by fire ants

Also, the article is very biased. An EpiPen provided by the facility wouldn't have saved the kids life. An EpiPen delivers a specifically measured out amount of epinephrine. Giving him a non-specific amount of epinephrine could have killed him just the same as the allergic reaction to the ants.
Can't get rid of all the ants, and if we (as people) start freaking out about every little thing we might as well just get in a bubble and not leave our houses.
Once again, not saying I don't sympathize with the family and that I'm not sad for what happened, but these organizations really try to do what's best. You've got parents screaming and yelling for continuing the game in this case, but you'd probably have parents screaming and complaining if they had stopped the game. It's really a no win situation when you're in a position with a youth sports organization.
