Academy teams can't travel... Empty Academy teams can't travel...

Post by Nutmegged 04/10/13, 03:11 pm

NTX Soccer just confirmed to me that Academy teams aren't allowed to travel outside of North Texas. I know Liverpool took teams to Tulsa this past spring, was it for "friendlies" or a tournament? How did they get around it?

1.  US Club Soccer roster

Or

2.  An NTSSA roster signed by an association Registrar who didn't know the rule

Or

3.  An NTSSA roster signed by an association Registrar that did not care about the rule

So as long as you have a US Club Soccer roster that is accepted at the tournament you are okay?

If an out-of-state tournament accepts roster from US Club Soccer, an academy team can present one and NTSSA can't do anything about it.

Tell NTX soccer to get off academy's nuts. This is academy we don't owe them anything and they don't have any control over us

Can someone explain why it's ok for these associations to dictate where my daughter/team can can't play?

NTSSA and their home associations believe they ARE soccer in North Texas.  This is why the original PAL failed (along with most NTSSA tournaments) and why US Club Soccer-sanctioned leagues and tournaments are so prevalent.

US Club Soccer is trying to get a foothold in this area.  They refer to NTSSA as "The Evil Empire".

Years ago my kid played on a good academy team that traveled to an Austin tourney by just registering with USCS. It was a blast. Winning on the field was great; beating the NT soccer Nazis was even better.

Utterly ridiculous to have to pay $50 to be "released" from an association because you happen to live in their area. Indentured servitude supposedly ended in the 1800's.

Some associations charge the full rec player registration fee to players who are only want to play academy... $90 or more.

It gets a little easier starting in u11, until you need guest players for a tournament.

Example:

It is mid-May and your league season has concluded. You want to bring in a rec player to guest play with your team for a tournament. Her rec season has concluded, but you have to get the signature of her rec coach and home association on the guest player form. Good luck tracking them down.

What tournament are you trying to go to? You will need to contact that tournament and ask what rosters they will accept...

Tell me about it. I had to track down a rec coach for a signature for the Plano Labor Day tournament.

Post by FLGator 05/10/13, 07:45 pm

Our girls went to Tulsa for a Labor Day tourney and it was a great experience for the girls to play teams from OK & KS, and they had a blast. We only do USCS tourneys, because the additional fee some tournaments charge for USCS rosters (usually between $25-$50 per team) is still WAY less expensive (after paying the $14 for players cards to USCS) than the $70-$100 per year per player NTSSA makes you pay. Plus there is no hassle of having to get that stupid "certified" roster for every tournament. Used to have to do that for my 02 and so glad my 05 doesn't have to do that.

As and FYI, I also just recently put together a list of all tournaments in NTX through December for our coach, all but 2 accepted USCS rosters.
