Ouch and Yuch!
Empirical evidence that small-sided games are best for this age-group.... next year 11v11 with 8ft x 24ft goals and 100 yard fields YUCH!

Love this coming from a username "positivesoccer"...."we spanked that team!! What! What! Hahahaha!!! oh but they are a good team and played well...."PositiveSoccer6 wrote:OUCH! AFC spanked by Southlake Saints in Colleyville 9v9 last weekend. The AFC played well and have some talented players! 2 nice teams playing well developed futbol.

Empirical evidence that small-sided games are best for this age group?? Beating a team 6-1 is evidence of this being the best option for development?? You are calling out a team that you beat by 5 goals that is ranked #56 in this age group. Way to be positive! Come back when you beat a top 10 team by 5 goals playing in any format.

It's a game that I observed .... you, something else? It is positive to see two good sets of players play the beautiful game well - both did that. Thanks for quoting the score and exposing your nerves - as i said: "2 good teams".. forgetaboutit or save us from your eqo !

Re: Ouch and Yuch!
I didnt observe the game and I am sure I didn't miss much of a display. It is positive to see two good teams, but to call them out with "Ouch!! AFC got spanked" that is much more offensive than stating the score itself. I am sure I am wasting my time here as you don't seem to understand the point being made. You sir have the ego issue, I was just bored so I stated my opinion.PositiveSoccer6 wrote:Were you the person on the sidelines observed offering improvement to the majority of the Referee calls? What a bore that person was.

What are you talking about? All of the top 04 teams are already playing 11v11 and most have been since last spring.PositiveSoccer6 wrote:OUCH! I'm sure RASE or DTS would like a warm-up once you get to 11v11. Maybe you'll be on the other side of a spanking?PositiveSoccer6 wrote:OUCH! Re: Ouch and Yuch!
Heck, I'm sure any of the top 30 would like a friendly scrimmage and give this team a nice warm welcome to 11v11. Then they can go back to playing Rec-ball in lovely Southlake. Come out of the bubble and check out any SDL '04 11v11 on a weekend. Then your "empirical evidence" will change.Master Bates wrote:I'm sure RASE or DTS would like a warm-up once you get to 11v11. Agree. Everyone is piling on, but is there more to this that offers some insight to the post that we're not getting? If it's an argument for "small-sided", there are certainly better ways to frame the case.RalphyBoy wrote:This whole post confuses me... is there some point to this post that makes sense?

This was an observation not an indictment - paranoia made someone jump to a conclusion - who says there is southlake parent even in the mix or even a parent? tsk tsk... paranoia!

Re: Ouch and Yuch!
First clue is to look at his/her posting history, and see the frequent mention of the Saints team and their scores, etc. in the posts.independentdad wrote:how can we be sure this is an avocation for either team? Seems like 'two teams playing nicely developed futbol" and supporting small(er)-sided' games is the message. I happen to agree that 11v11 (as the FA states) is NOT the platform for accelerated development.

Or, it could simply be paranoia.

Re: Ouch and Yuch!
Like I said before, the original post is benign with no supporting facts or information to help us discuss a topic without wondering what the heck this person was TRYING to post. In the end, if the argument is for 9v9 vs. 11v11 or something of that sort, just say that - don't pipe up with something so convoluted that it confuses the issue at hand. "So and so got pummelled by so and so" is NOT a proper way to invite discussion around a topic such as "whether small sided vs. 11v11 is more effective for player development". There is a way to reach your audience for effective discussion and a way to get ridiculed for not being able to appropriately deliver your message. This falls into the latter.independentdad wrote:how can we be sure this is an avocation for either team? He must have been the NFL forum and accidently brought his emotions to this one. No matter how rowdy things get on this board, I haven't come across such blatant boastfulness in reference to a victory. That attitude is what starts a disagreement on the sidelines amongst parents...
