Yes - commentators weren't paying too much attention to game, either.
When the goalie picked ball up, put it down to her feet, then picked it up again, they said " there's a call you never see, holding the ball too long".....
Wish I could've seen the whole game, when seemed to have plenty of opportunities.

If one defeat at the U17 level on PKs is that troublesome, then "yes", lets shake up the whole system. Talk about an overreaction.
Call me when the USWNT ( The first team ) does not qualify for the World Cup. Actually, it would be an upset of epic proportions for the #1 Women's soccer team in the world to not qualify for the World Cup. That is not what happened here. Looks like the U17s just had a bad game. Maybe those aren't the players that will be playing for the US when they get to the real team.
Let's enjoy our women's soccer dominance and understand Women's soccer is in good hands in the USA.

Yep that's the kind of thinking that worked so well for England. I don't think anybody has said shake up the whole system. Maybe improve it before the rest of the world catches you. The US National team may win but they do not currently play the most attractive soccer. They really are no better than the men. The difference being the quality the men have to compete against.RunsLikeWind wrote:If one defeat at the U17 level on PKs is that troublesome, then "yes", lets shake up the whole system. Re: U17s knocked out by Mexico
It would have been nice if the center midfield were more involved in the play but the outside was available to the US and they decided to go through the outside backs and wingers instead.
I was particularly impressed with the play of the backline and the outside backs craftiness with the ball and willingness to attack space with the dribble. Every girl I saw had excellent touch and passed/received extremely well in addition to being fast. The centerbacks handled the ball like CMs. No one seemed rushed or troubled at all.
I thought Haley's touch was heavy when she drifted into the attacking mid spot but even that is nit picking. I bet Haley could count on 1 finger the times she found herself in the attacking mid spot during ECNL play. The fact that she drifted there often is a testament to the movement the US had. There was quite a bit of interchanging positions through the flow of play. I liked it as it means the girls are versatile and that versatility is an asset if they are allowed to be creative (which they were).
In a nutshell I found the teams play a refreshing change from the USWNT play. It's time to break up the ole girl network and let these kids in.
