AFC tourney result
AFC tourney result
Seems Kicks continue dominate this age with a big margin. Keegan, Rush, Sting East/West are very close as 2nd group.
Where is Gerrard? Are they close to Kicks or to the 2nd group?
I never see Kicks' play, for anyone experienced, could you describe how Kicks play? and why they are so good?

Re: AFC tourney result
Kicks and GerrOwen played in May and the result was 4-3 in favor of Kicks. The two have not met since.
Owen, Keegan, LFS and Defeeters are all playing in the Primetime Tourney this coming weekend.
I would agree that Keegan, Sting East and West and Rush are very close. I would throw LFS in there too, but just my opinion. We'll see this weekend if Owen, LFS and/or Defeeters are in the same group.

Re: AFC tourney result
I can only speak to the 07 Kicks team (as that is the only team I have watched for any real length of time). And this is just my 2 cents…..First, I believe the core of the team have been together a long time (well for 6/7 year olds that is), which obviously makes a big difference. But beyond that they seem to be very well coached and play a pretty style of soccer in my opinion. They have obviously been coached up on the tactical areas of the game- they are very good on set pieces for example. They are not necessarily bigger, stronger, and faster (although they obviously have some of that). They have good ball skills for their age and seem to understand spacing, passing, possession, better than most. And probably just as importantly they know how to FINISH.planogirl wrote:http://events.gotsport.com/events/resultsgrid.aspx?EventID=34418&GroupID=312100

Our Rush team enjoyed playing them this weekend and we were able to somewhat hang in there for the first half, but all the elements I mentioned above caught up with us the 2nd half. We very much look forward to playing them again soon (not too soon ;>) as they have set the standard within the age group and are an excellent measuring stick and we hope to continue to close the gap over time.
And by the way congrats to the Kicks 07 team in the AFC tourney- hats off.

Re: AFC tourney result
Something I noticed was when the ball was bouncing high they don't even try to use their feet to get it down, they run through it and let their bodies push the ball forward. That's taught, not learned. Well done Erick.
Overall the championship was a great learning experience for Keegan. The girls were impressed and I even saw some of our girls use moves from that game in last nights GSSC thunder black 06 tie at stampede. We can't wait to play them again as the only way to get better is to be challenged.
Congrats to Erick and the Dallas Kicks, hopefully we'll see you again soon
