Kicks Futsal powered by City Futsal
Kicks Futsal powered by City Futsal
I'm excited to announce Kicks Futsal powered by City Futsal. Two organizations come together with a common goal to develop the next generation player.
Why futsal?
Kicks SC wants to use futsal as a tool to assist in developing players of a higher technical ability and soccer IQ.
Advantages of futsal......
1. With the small court and lack of walls, players are constantly placed in demanding decision-making situations, requiring quick thinking, good ball control, precise passing, and creative solutions.
2. Futsal favors a skillful/creative player.
3. Smaller team sizes allow players to get more frequent touches on the ball and increased opportunities to score goals.
4. Players are not just a defender or an attacker but a complete player resulting in a much better all-round understanding of the game.
5. Futsal is fast and exciting, providing an action packed game that keeps players physically active while having fun.
Kicks Futsal program-
I personally will be working with City Futsal staff to build a curriculum appropriate in age to develop a different type of player.
This program will begin in March and consist of twice a week futsal training for 6 months. In addition our academy players will have access to a yearly pass to Friday night pick up games at City Futsal. Pick up games are great for creativity. For our select teams they will only train with futsal once a week 6 months out of the year.
Why City Futsal?
After spending time observing and studying their residency program I was very impressed with City Futsal. The way they train, the way they interact with players, the energy, passion they have for teaching was very impressive. I knew I wanted to inject City Futsal into not just my teams but our entire club.
If anyone is just getting into academy and is looking for a club that will focus on development please send me an email at kicks01@Yahoo.com

The cost for academy and select will be different. Academy will train twice a week in March, April, May, Sept, Oct and Nov while select once a week. This is being added to the core curriculum for the entire club from Academy up thru the Select teams. This allows us to bring the cost far below current prices because of the numbers being added to the program. The sessions will be held at various places which is also assisting in reducing the cost. IAD is a fantastic facility, but one that does increase the cost if sessions are held there. All select teams will train at IAD once a week. Academy teams will be at different locations, such as...Holy Trinity and other churches, school gyms. Eventually we will also utilize City Futsal's new downtown location. The cost starting in July will be included in all academy and select dues.Amigos wrote:What is the cost?
With the help of City Futsal, Kicks will be bringing futsal to the players and families of Dallas Kicks and at a cost that simply cannot be beat.

During the months of March, April, May, Sept, Oct and Nov academy players (U7-U10) and little ones (U4-U6) will train under Kicks Futsal powered by City Futsal. My academy teams will still train once per week. Other coaches might do twice a week or once a week practices in addition to Kicks Futsal.blastit wrote:Will this replace practices for academy in be in addition to?
The program is Kicks Futsal. I will be working with City Futsal on curriculum that will make Kicks Futsal program. City Futsal staff and I will meet on a regular basis to see what is and is not working. However, City Futsal will continue to train individual players with their amazing programs. If you are looking at futsal training I highly recommend City Futsal. If you are looking for a club that will focus on using futsal as a tool to develop young players shoot me an email. I believe we are the only club making this part of their curriculum.

I don't know about domination. NTX has a lot of good clubs and coaches. We are just trying to do something innovative to create a different type of player. We are focusing more on development and not winning. Winning will come as a result of development IMO. We are fortunate to have a great organization like City Futsal that believes in what we are doing. We are going to try to tap into the inner city kids with tons of potential that get left behind due to cost.RunsLikeWind wrote:Sounds like a great, innovative idea that will be valuable to the players of the area. Good luck and look forward to seeing more of the Kicks Domination in the future.

Re: Kicks Futsal powered by City Futsal
1. Any option to practice once per week for Academy player U7~U10?
Most players already practice twice a week with their own club, so once a week futsal practice could attract much more players to your program.
2. Any practice close to Plano area?
Many players would consider to play for Kicks if there is practice in Plano/Frisco/McKinney/Allen areas.
Really appreciate, Kicks is a great club.

1. The Kicks futsal program will only be for Dallas Kicks players once implemented into the club curriculum starting next soccer year.
2. Kicks does have players from all parts of the metroplex. There is a possibility of sessions to be held in that part of town. I would welcome it since I live in Allen!! A UP!

2. We are working on having some North based teams in the near future. Hopefully, it could grow to a North division. We are starting a west division soon. We just added a Forney based boys team (Lightning). We are looking at more quality coaches that are about developing kids and not just a paycheck. We understand coaches have to get paid for their talents, time and services. However, we do not pay our coaches what other clubs pay. We have structured our club to give parents more bang for their buck. However, let me say this we do not want to grow just to grow numbers. We want dedicated coaches, familes, players etc…with the same love for the game.

Planogirl - I also left out the reason we will not allow non Kicks players to join this program is due to schedules. Like you said most every team trains twice per week with their club so figuring out schedules will be tough. Our club will work on set schedules with City futsal, for example 08's and 09's will train Mon and Wed, 07's and 06's Tue and Thur, etc.....Then Kicks club coaches can train once per week with their team without conflicts. This will also allow our coaches to attend Kicks Futsal training sessions and learn from City Futsal staff. The player to trainer ratio will be 1:15 max. Hope this helps.

Re: Kicks Futsal powered by City Futsal
My dilemma was finding the time and also paying for both. I would have to pay academy fees plus an extra 200 dollars for twice training on a weekly basis at City. When you have an 01 training already 3 times a week plus 2 more for an 06, it was hard to find the time for City plus the financial effect. When Juan told me about the Kicks Futsal program, I felt it was designed for a parent like me. A parent who wants the best for their child with a mix of futsal and club training. Now that I can do this under one umbrella with basically just paying academy dues is great. It will likely save me thousands of dollars in supplemental futsal training with City. I was not only considering it for my 06 but 01 also. Now they both get city futsal training in academy and select.
From experience I want my 06 to be heavily involved in futsal because I can look at the 01 Kicks girls who have played leagues at City since it opened and see their progress. They started out learning the game at first and taking their lumps. Then two years later they are national champs at Futsal. It just helps not only the foot skills in tight spaces but certainly the technical aspects. The shielding, vision and first touch. The practice of stepping on the ball is a major emphasis that city teaches and that helps you slow down and survey the pitch.
When the Brasil national boys came to City to play futsal, you could just see how confident they were in futsal. That ball was an extension of their foot. You could see all the ball tricks and how comfortable they were with the ball. That translates directly to outdoor and 1 v 1 creativity. The player gets that confidence to successfully beat the defender with ball skills. If your always just playing two touch and moving the ball around, how is the player going to learn to beat defenders with 1 v 1 skills with confidence?
I am just glad Juan is innovative and always open to ideas. He believed in girls being in top shape and getting used to the summer heat. He trained them to get used to the heat. His teams always had great endurance. He hired a certified conditioning coach for the club to reduce injuries and to build up the stamina and strength. He noticed a growing trend of futsal training at city. His 01 girls had always played in the leagues. He would stop by and watch games or trainings. He would implement some in his outdoor trainings. Lately, especially among boys, the growing trend was full time futsal training. Some were training 3-4 times a week. He always encouraged the extra touches and he loved the creativity that city futsal taught. The partnership was just a natural fit. His club believed in the creative 1 v 1 confidence and Brasilian type of play and City guys were teaching Brasil type futsal. They both felt they could see there product in each others trainings. They found ways to get the cost way down with numbers and getting city to come to different locations.
