It's always great to see kids coming into college with goals for themselves and their team!

Qualifying for the NCAA's?  Is that what you mean about making history?

This confused me as well. My thought was, "As opposed to all the other signee's that want to go to their respective school and keep the status quo, or maybe even underachieve a little?"

I thought maybe she was making history by choosing a school that is "the perfect blend of academics and athletics" or “the school's reputation for having high academic standards along with its commitment and support they give their student/athletes." I think most every commit would say the same about their choice.

Bell continues the theme of local/texas colleges going outside of ntx soccer for recruits. Are our local clubs/coaches getting the message? Do the parents paying their salaries even care?

No and No.

As long as the club coaches are placing kids somewhere where they can play and get an education, parents don't seem overly concerned with where for the most part.

Seems for the last several years that the truly elite from NTX tend to head east or more recently west.

The problem seems to be for the college coaches. The in-state Texas and nearby state college coaches that try to win with the other players from NTX seem to struggle with winning enough to have any longevity. Someone new comes in and recruits NTX so the opportunities are there for the players as long as they are flexible on their school choices.

Yes.

TCU's women soccer has never won a conference championship or played in the NCAA tournament. The team has been recognized for academic performance for the last several years and it is increasingly harder to get into TCU with the national exposure of the Fiesta and Rose Bowl years.

By the way, 12 of 21 from the fall roster are from Texas, including Plano West and some Dallas Texans national champion teams. 2 of the 12 transfers. 3 freshman are from the same Illinois club team, but latest class is about 50% home grown.

After lots of shutout losses, including to Tech and North Texas, I'd say the new commit needs to bring a few attacking friends. Smile

I am a TCU grad, so I would love them to be successful. I don't think getting third tier players from other states is the best way. They need to recruit Texas but seem reluctant to do so.

No parents at games - sounds like a dream situation for most coaches!

EB couldn't do a lot about the class that was there. He did cut money to some previous NTX girls, then added 2 transfers from RH's 92 team this last year as temp fixes. To give you a better view of the direction he is taking here is a look at his 2014/15 recruits thus far.

Finnerty, Jill M Highlands Ranch, CO Real Colorado
Ganter, Allison M Dallas, TX Sting Dallas
Gray, Kela F Chicago, IL Eclipse Select

Marotta, Maddie D Scottsdale, AZ Sereno SC

Spencer, Eryn M , CA West Valley United

Does this say something about EB, NTX soccer, or both?
That's quite a variety - someone is enjoying their travel.

Does not look that different than the approach his predecessor took.

Where do the out of state players rank nationally and in their respective states as recruits?

Not sure why top recruits from CA, AZ or CO would be coming to EB and TCU. If that is the case, then more power to him.

Feet as you know a coach can see any number of teams at the national tournaments without traveling. While at Fla State (a top 5-10 program) Bell recruited from all over the world.  Bell was in charge of scouting and  making the initial contacts with recruits. He has relationships with all of the top club programs in the US so he is getting the best players in the US that he can. If he is not interested in NTX players that says something for the level of player that our clubs produce. On another note the top 10 ntx players will usually be highly recruited nationally, and I am sure Bell would like to convince them to become horned frogs.

I Look for TCU to add some international players in the next 2 yrs similar to Fla St.
