As you all start to gear up for the spring season, I'd encourage you all to consider adding mental skills training into your soccer player's training regimen. Like physical skills, mental skills have to be practiced on a regular basis to effectively turn those skills into automatic habits. My goal with my work with soccer players is to help them learn how to stay in control of their thoughts and emotions while they're playing, so that they can perform their best consistently in high pressure situations. Now's the time to help your athlete develop these skills into habits that they can use before the pressure of the season starts to increase (State Cup, Regionals, tryouts, etc.).
